Imperial HUGE Ships...I'm Calling It.

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

Props to Joe Boss.

Here we are 1 year, 1 month, 17 days later. With 2199 posts strong. Joe Boss called it:

We are likely going to get an Imperial Gozanti Cruiser for the GR-75 Transport equivalent.

Many of us did my wonderful Star Brother... I just yelled first and it was kinda loud...

SCUM to...

Much Love!

It would have only taken half a brain to predict after the GR-75 was spoiled.

Simultaneously surprised and not surprised that they're doing it in 1/270, though.

Well, if they were going to let you hang the actual TIE models to it, it kinda had to be in the same scale.

Considering that (according to wookiepedia) Gozanti is 63.8 meters long, while Decimator is 39 meters long it would be really weird if the would downscale it.

Given shown scale with TIEs in various mediums it's actually longer than that, there's like 3 separate numbers it's been at various times.

GIVE IT TO ME!!!

Yup, same here. 1/270 scale was the only logical choice for the Gozanti with it external TIEs. Anything else simply wouldn't have made sense.

And let's face it, with Rebels showing Gozantis carrying TIE's, they could hardly release it without them...

What's with all the posts with no content? This is something like the 6th that I've seen, and I haven't even been reading most threads.

Well I got to say we called a lot of stuff on that Gozanti. You guys were right about the carrier aspect. After the Natasha pup was announced with the key word deploy in bold font I had a feeling you would be. Some one called the hard point thing for weapons didn't they? And I know we batted the idea around of it coming with two alternate scheme ties somewhere...

...

Ever get that feeling that FFGs watching you run through the forum maze looking for a piece of cheese, while taking all the ideas you come up with to make their products? :)

As much as I'd like to think they see and hear what their humble fans are thinking, I think it's more to do with grouping releases together. The Ghost, the Inquisitor and the Gozanti are all strike-while-the-Rebels-iron-is-hot releases, and as mentioned elsewhere releaes that really needed to be announced before Episode VII arrives and takes over all things Star Wars.

That said, what FFG have done with the Gozanti is pretty grand - there was plenty of debate onthisthread as you rightly said about TIE's docking, and what scale it could be released at... and FFG only go and give us our biggest 1/270 scale ship yet!

Really looking forward to this release.

So.....let's keep this thread going!

Obviously, the next two Epic releases are going to be Scum(Star Jewel and Wild Karrde get my vote). But after that, do we start getting a 3rd ship per faction? Or does Epic just stop at 2 forever?

Who do you think is the frontrunner for 3rd Imperial Epic ship?

Two seems to be the magic number. That said, if there are any Corvette or Transport-sized ships in Episode VII you know they'll make an appearence eventually.

There are still a couple of contenders in the EU which might work, especially at the lower end of the size scale:

The IPV-1 System Patrol Craft (formerly known as the SpaceMouse), for one

Everybody talking about the Ghost, the Gozanti, the Punishing One, the Myst Hunter, the Inquisitor's TIE....And nobody cares about my feelings? (if there were uncontrollable sobbing emoticon I would use it)

Don't worry - we still love you mel.

And we'll always have the Nebulon B Frigate.

This to me, was the biggest surprise out of the Gozanti release. Huge ships have been at that sliding scale in the past, so I didn't expect a 270 scale huge ship. I expected if they made a Gozanti it would simply be Large, though perhaps with a special modified base.

It's gonna look a little strange next to a GR-75 perhaps. Oh well not a big deal. Very happy to have it regardless!

To be fair, they didn't really have much choice with the Gozanti. It was either do it at 1/270 scale, or notallow TIEs to dock with the model - and rule of cool says that was never going to happen.

I don't think it'll look too large next to the other Epic ships. In fact, it'll probably be amazing to play in 150-200 point games.

NOPE!

REBELS? Okay... BOOM The Whole Show in a Glorious Wave!

You know guys, there's a way too easy way to solve all our scaling problems...

X-wing simply becomes the new canon size scale. Boom. Done. Took me like, what, three seconds. Five, tops.

YUP... you fixed it up, just fine-like.

I still drool over the thought of buying your Lady Luck. But haven't the painting skills yet to make the leap. It will happen eventually.

Imperial-Light-Cruiser-Concept-Art-star-

Arquitens light cruiser. It's the next size up in the Imperial stable, and they could release it as a show tie-in opposite the A-Wing carrying Pelta (that Vader blew up singlehandedly, as if we needed reminding that he's a badass).

Cross marketing! Disney uses the hell out it!

Hmm,

that is one sweet looking cruiser,

and if we would get a Rebel Pelta-class I'd be extatic! that ship looked so awesome in that show.... (even if it got onehanded by Vader...)

If FFG would do a 3rd epic ship, I'd still vote for the Vigil!
