Imperial HUGE Ships...I'm Calling It.

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

Everyone realizes that if this reaches 100 pages the entire Internet is going to explode like some ill-designed spherical moonsized mining machine.

Juat a few more pages... Almost there... Almost there...

In all seriousness, what's the probability we'll see a Gozanti?

In all seriousness, what's the probability we'll see a Gozanti?

I say slim...

I feel that the ship itself is smaller than FFG would likely want to go for Epic; add the fact that what we generally see of it, during The Clone Wars and Rebels, makes it seem not much bigger than a YT-1300.

That is the version many of us think will be the next Impie-Huge.

I see your point; still, that could go straight to 1:270 scale at 63m:

640px-Gozanti-class_cruiser_SWR.png

it could take the position as a transport being, just short of, twice as long as the VT-49:

Still hoping for the Best Friends Forever bulk freighter.

But given the raider comes with a fighter does that mean a transport comes on its Tod?

I imagine with the Raider getting a fighter, and still being slated as in development, the Gozanti is just going into the works now and could be paired with TIE Bomber.

As a fan of the bomber, I'd love that. On the other hand, while it'd be awesome to get more pilots, I don't think it needs a fix (Worlds data notwithstanding).

If we're getting the Gozanti, maybe a TIE Fighter or two? They put an X-wing in the Transport box, which also came with the Core and an expansion.

Yeah I could see the basic TIE (or indeed two) being included maybe. Certainly would be a more thematic fit. But then there's the part where the X-wing got that boost with the transport for some slight more viable edge, but more for cool story characters, and the TIE doesn't need anything like what it got except an alternate paint scheme. So I can't really see it except as just a cool bonus. And to be fair yeah the Bomber might not need a fix nearly as much as it could use some incentivizing I guess is the word I'm looking for? As it stands yeah it may be efficient, technically, on paper, but there's not really a lot you can do with it when it comes right down to it. I mean it's the original game piece to introduce the Bomb mechanics, and it's about to cede all bomber poster child rights to Scum's Azzameen in a way. So I'm going to keep hoping it gets the love next.

The Gozanti is certainly getting plenty or screen time on Star Wars: Rebels

I would love to see this and The Ghost released at some point.

Ps - just doing my bit for the 100 page goal .... Go JoeBoss!

There /is/ supposed to be a Bomber fix of some sort coming down the line.

There /is/ supposed to be a Bomber fix of some sort coming down the line.

Since this discussion, I'm starting to wonder if I even want a fix/boost to the Bomber. Right now, in my local meta, I'm the Bomber guy. The ship is mine. I kinda don't want it to get hyped, and have everybody flying it. Sure, I'll be able to say "I loved the Bomber before it was cool," but it's just not the same.

Can you remind us when/where we learned that?

I want to say it was S&V's developer interview.

is that anything thing like my loving the Advanced? Heck, that was Vader's ship, whats not to love?

HAHA!

Just start flying the Bomber ironically. :P

The bomber isn't broken ordinance is, I don't see the fix for torpedoes and missiles coming in an imperial huge it's an issue that effects all three factions.

And as someone else pointed out earlier the decimator is almost as big as the goz I've said all along its too small to be a huge and should be a large base ship if it gets released at all.

The Nebulon-B (at 300m) also fits that category, and the model by melminiatures is really awesome (1:607 here). Wasn't there also a model design at the same scale as the CR-90?

Yes, yes there is. And it's GORGEOUS.

Every time I see one of this photos, I want this so much I get wallet blue-balls.

I think your talking about this post? Where he said that the gozanti would be a good match for the transport.

I like to see also the Gozanti in the game, but as many already said... the size could be an issue....
But on the other hand the imperials will need a ship with the same Epic point like the transport, so... maybe....

Thats the picture i was too lazy to find thanks.

As you can see a goz would not really look that epic, you'd have another inch of ship on the end and it'd look like a large ship still.

Goz would be a good large ship just not a good epic ship.

The Imperial Gozanti (63.8m) is larger than the commercially-available civilian Gozanti freighter (41.8m).

From Mel Miniatures:

Although the Star Wars Rebels Visual Guide lists the Imperial Version at 63.8m, some claim it should be more like 75m.

Gaming wise, it would need to be scaled at 1/270 and not the sliding scale of the GR-75 and CR90.

This ship screams Epic.

I'm calling it, the 2nd Imperial ship will be the Imperial Gozanti.

I mean I guess kinda the ordinance don't work, but they are fixing that as the game progresses by making newer cheaper options that certainly are working. Like Pocket Rockets and Flechettes. The old ordinance is just over priced. But considering what even a basic proton can do to swing a game, I'd still take it if I could maximize it's use. I mean we've all seen the slight more consistency that basic proton has of just nixing a TIE straight out over the X-wing's primary. Four points to kill twelve or more? Yeah we'll take one of those. But could it have been like three points please? It is only a one shot after all that can fail. But you do have a point about a potential price barrier. I heard the cries of the ones who didn't want to make that jump on the '75 and the '90, so I'd have to keep that in mind if we were going to major patch some very core thing like old ordinance. Putting it in one faction, and only in an Epic product, might not be the way to go. Meh Pro/Cons. I wouldn't mind myself, but I do want to be fair.

But yeeeahhh...I thinks the Gozanti is more like 2.2 times larger than the Decimator in these pics. And even if it was only slightly bigger than the Decimator, the '49 is pushing the limit of what can reasonably fit on a large base. The Goz would have to go up a level practically by default. The real question is what size do you make the Ghost from Rebels if we put it in the game. I'd wager that could be a large base only no problem.
