Imperial HUGE Ships...I'm Calling It.

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

And now I discover that I've somehow gained a like-rating higher than 1. Somehow I get the feeling that an imperial player shouldn't be winning the "hearts and minds" game :P

With regards to the 250m upper limit, this definitely gets me hopeful for the Vigil. I think a mere 5m over would be considered inconsequential at that scale, and it's probably the closest you can get to bringing the iconic look of the Star Destroyers into the game.

Congrats on the like-rating.

Now, I find it absurd that someone saying an upper limit of "250 tops" makes you think a Vigil is more likely than before you had this information.

You silly Vigil people (like the Village People).

Imperial possibles:

150m Storm Commando Escort Carrier

255m Vigil

My money's on these two

Id say the Gozanti and the Vigil are the more popular picks with the Lancer coming in third biting at the Vigils heels.

So after 1,428 posts, we're back to what Joe Boss first put up on in Post #1.

The Imperial Gozanti-class freighter. The Vigil-class corvette.

This would follow what FFG did for rebel alliance with a support ship/freighter and a warship.

The Gozanti-class does seem like a shoo-in with its prominence in Clone Wars, Rebels and Prequels.

The Vigil is in the RPG books. It would be hard to imagine Fantasy Flight not going with a wedge-shaped ship. Wedge ships are ubiquitous Imperial warships. And I would be highly disappointed not seeing a piece of pie for the Imperials.

The issue is the width of the Vigil. Do they make it skinnier? Or do they go with another wedge ship? Has anyone tested out how a super wide ship would play?

Pondering... that we are... that we will do... until...

Sources say the Gozanti is 63.8m.

The GR-75 is 90m. But the miniature is not 1/270 scale.

If they used 1/270 scale for the Gozanti, then the miniature would come in at 9.25"

Also, some claim that the 63.8m length is wrong and the ship is much larger.

It's going to be the Gozanti.

Yeah it IS, and it will be the perfect counterpart to the good ole Transport.

:)

And this bad boy is going to look awesome on the tabletop:

Fun fact if you scale the Victory class star destroyer down to 1:500 it comes in at 6 ft long.... I think ffg is tipping their hand a little.

Patox needs more H-k Probot...

If you consider the odd 5m to be inconsequential, you basically have a ship that's the same size as what they've said is the largest they think they can push the system to. It could just be luck, or...

In 1:500 scale that 5m equates to 1cm of model length. Dunno if that's a deal breaker for FFG or not but id have thought there would be some wiggle room there.

Fly Arvel into its nose really fast.

Now it's 250m.

Seventy-three and not out.

But based on the Scum and Villany interview with the designers the Gozanti is too small ... they very specifically said that qualifying ships would be in the 150 - 250 m range

If I am remembering correctly, they said that 150-250m was the upper end of what was viable for this game.

Plenty!

:)

The way I read it and the way it sounded in the recent interview from S&V POD, they are saying we made the Vigil, and that 255Meters is as big as it is going to get in EPIC.

Okay... I am in, even on a rainy gloomy day, I can sing... dammit I can dance! Then I'll order me up a NebBIE from MEL.

The dream is all over boss that 1cm of plastic is just too much they said the limit is 250m on a podcast thats the limit. :P

I will pay FFG not to make the Space Dong.

I will pay FFG not to make the Space Dong.

So far we've seen YT-1300's, Firesprays, Shuttles, CR90's and even a B-Wing converted with LED lighting.

You just know that if FFG gave us a Lancer, it would be the first ship to get disassembled so the owner could put a vibration unit and batteries inside..

If you put it on a random timer at low intensity it could confuse the hell out of an opponent. "Wait, why did everything on the table move? Did I just bump it? The other guy's not even touching the table..."
