Imperial HUGE Ships...I'm Calling It.
Edited by gabe69velasquezMany years later, Admiral Natasi Daala began a campaign against the New Republic and utilized the two Crusader-class corvettes that had been purchased by the Galactic Empire. The corvettes proved to be highly effective, so the Imperial Remnant renegotiated with Mandal Hypernautics and purchased a sizable number of them. Two Crusaders later served in Admiral Daala's Maw Irregular Fleet and participated in the Second Galactic Civil War .

Have to say, I would not mind this being the Empire Huge ship, at all. It's pretty cool.
EDIT: Due to FTS Gecko's ongoing sexual harassment regarding my DP20 project, I withdraw all support of this ship.
Edited by gabe69velasquezIt's game mechanics, not a direct translation. Just look at what some where saying the Defender's shields should be. Also, the scaling of firepower is amazingly easy. Hardpoints, hardpoints, hardpoints...
I also like this Empire only "Assault Transport" from the Star Wars:Rebellion game.

I'm curious, has anyone considered the practical game functionality of what they are hoping for??
Yes. There was a huge argument thread back in April about star destroyers. Went on for, I don't know, 30 pages or something. Not sure what you could search for to find it again if you were really interested.
Please let it be anything but that giant space dong.
I've read this kind of comment in several places...
If this ship really looks like a ***** to you, please go see a doctor.

I don't think it looks like a *****- but it looks almost exactly like some sex toys. I wouldn't want to put it on the table, tbh.

Keep 'em coming.
assault carrier
Do you mean escort carrier?
And which one?

The 500m one that can carry 72 fighters, or

The 150m one, that can carry 12 fighters, and looks 10 times cooler?
I may be the only one to say this, but I like the space box. You can keep your 150m triangle ship.
I loved the flight simulators. We had a few escort carriers show up to deliver TIE Advanceds or take the TIE Defenders to courusant. It's a nice different to a wegde-dominated fleet and shows there are other manufacturers out there as well. To me the Escort carrier is always going to be the flying hangar box from TIE Fighter. The Rogue Squadron one feels like a pretender belonging to a special snowflake Imperial squadron and trying to usurp the title
It looks cool I guess, it's just not the humble Escort Carrier.
On the topic, I think the Vigil is going to be too wide to conisder. Remember X-Wing is a horizontal playing field and this has a footprint of at least three bases. I think the Gozanti is fairly certain, but the CR-90 analogue is a little harder to pin down and an Assasin Corvette (While completely thematic) is too similar to the CR-90.
I'm hoping for a 23" long Imperial Star Destroyer that can be played as either Imperial Class or Victory Class with docking bays that can launch or pick up and repair fighters.
Following that a Nebulon B Frigate. Not as long only 17"-18". Something that makes it significantly larger than the corvette but significantly smaller than the Star destroyer.
@gabe69velasquez
I have been working on say a rough design on the base of an Imperial Star Destroyer. Here is the link.
I'm curious, has anyone considered the practical game functionality of what they are hoping for??
ie. the ships stats...
Because while I searched for candidates, I thought even an Imperial Nebulon B Frigate, which is doable,
would have to be a completely new game, since I can't imagine how they will make a final decision
on the hull/cargo/crew/teams/hardpoints:
With linear ratios, I get 127 hull and 51 shields...

I love this post.
But despite the arguments, it only makes me want a Nebulon B Frigate even more...
Ditto The Gecko!

I just want to say that, while off scale, the Nebulon-B Frigate depicted above is beautiful and, IMO, totally workable for the game. It would have to be expensive, of course, but that is fine. The scale seems relatively correct, respectful of its size, and capable of a few 1 speed maneuvers appropriate to a capital ship in relation to fighters/large ships. All it needs is an FFG style base with firing arcs. Make it especially flat so fighters can pass under it/land on the base and presto!
EDIT: Oh, and as to the weapons, don't strive for proportional accuracy. Give it a few more than the CR90 or find some mechanic to make it pack a bigger punch. Leave it be. It won't be perfectly ratio'd out but nothing is lest we forget. Even if it's just a giant scenario obstacle, it would be a welcome presence on my table...

Nope. Both of those threads were in response to the one I'm thinking of. The was a period there when there were around a dozen threads one after the other all speculating on imp huge ships.
Might be this one

It isn't going to be an Imperial Star Destroyer as that's way too large for this game, scaled down or not,
so my suggestion would be if you have to have pie, go for the Immobilizer 418 cruiser
aka Interdictor-class medium frigate. Scaled down from 600 meters is an attainable goal.
The potential for mission, scenario, and campaign ideas is boundless.
Almost forgot this...
I scaled these myself to use in a vassal map
(before the CR90 mini was released of course).

I think Steve Jobs designed the one on top, back when he worked for Seinar Systems, he called it the iCarrier. You should've seen the original design, it had a transparent blue hull.

...and it wouldn't work a **** with anything built by Kuat Drive Yards.
Honestly, that Nebulon B is absolutely awesome! I think it'd be great if they came out with one, but it just seems like something they're just not going to do. Also, while I am a huge fan of star destroyers, I just can't see any 24' model doing it any justice (though I would buy it in a hearbeat... or, enough heartbeats to get my wife's permission.... which might be quite a few).
That said, because of its shape, it might be easier for them to package than something like the Vigil. But then comes the argument that most people will think of it as a rebel ship, rather than an Imperial, even if it is really an Imperial ship.
le sigh.
In other news, I'm thinking of kitbashing the BFF-1 Bulk Freighter :
If I do make one, I really hope that FFG doesn't go an make one as well. It's a pretty iconic ship from the TIE fighter game, and it does seem like the video games are overwhelmingly the EU that FFG draws from, so.... yeah.
So we love the new Large Ships for Wave Five, and we have seen what FFG has done for the Alliance Huge Ships. I am calling the Imperial response, for fun, and because I think this is going to happen.
We are likely going to get an Imperial Gozanti Cruiser for the GR-75 Transport equivalent.
![]()
I've been pondering this and a couple of things come to mind:
(1) for a GR75 equivalent (roughly speaking) it's too small.
(2) for a GR75 equivalent (roughly speaking) it would use power and therefore not have all those weapons...
Armament
• 2 quad laser cannon batteries
• 2 quad laser cannon turrets
• Proton torpedo launcher
• Systems upgrade slot
...unless they made it with two cards.
Do you have any card ideas?

Participating in my topic is NOT hijacking, that would be off topic chatter.
I am mainly concerned, or rather curious is the better term, as to how our FFG Boys will handle the TIE Carrages and if they will include new TIE with the ship.
Cards would be very much like the Transport, but with weapons that should be more geared towards fighting small ships, with a huge ship weapon or two.
What do you think?
