Imperial HUGE Ships...I'm Calling It.
can you link a good picture?
I think he's referring to this:
It's not a 'good' picture, but it suggests what the ship is.
I'd have to learn to love it if they brought it in. At the moment, I'm not convinced. I'd rather see one of the two frigates that patox considers 'phallic'. The 'phallicity' counterargument to the Lancer and the Tartan is a bit infantile in my mind. Do they also object to missiles on the same grounds?
Edited by Mikael HasselsteinEvery so often a thread like this pops up, and sooner or later someone busts out the Space Dong. (sigh) I wish people would see their shrinks about their Freudian urges...
@ Forgottenlore: It's the one in Mikael Hasselstein's post. Not a lot of good pics of it out there, but it's got a good wedge silhouette like other imperial ships.
I agree, it's likely it'll be the Gozanti, the Vigil or something from the new SW TV series. (maybe an Imperial-painted Arquitens or Pelta-class?) An ep VII preview ship if we're lucky.
Then we can dispense with this dogfight thing and get into big naval battles!
Another shot from another thread.

Yeah!!
Big naval battles with big models.
It'll be a good thing that GW has made 4'x8' tabletops something of a standard. Or am I mistaken about that?
I know that at my FLGS, we have nice big tables on which truly epic games can be played out.
That said, I also like the Gozanti and could learn to like the Vigil, despite its thin pedigree.
I want to call it a "widdle baby star destroyer" so badly….
you have to say it right man......Its a widdle staw destwoyer
empire is bigger and badder when it comes to star ships,
i want to see a 5 point epic ship for the imperials, that would really rock!!!!!!
so it would have to be bigger and have more guns than the CR90
You're getting a Gozanti when Star Wars: Rebels comes out. I guarantee it.

I'm hoping we'll see it before then.
That said, it's not all that big of a ship. I'd say that it's too small for a huge, and if they do produce it, they should do it at the 1/270 scale of the small/large ships.

Stop trying to make SW:Rebels happen. It's not going to happen.
Sorry, it just felt wrong to not have him trolling off of that post.
I hope to see FFG announce a small Star Destroyer a GenCon this year....not a medium but truly the smallest one in class size
It would of course outgun the Tantive
i was thinking maybe a lancer class frigate to combat the cr90
Yeah it is cool!

But for some reason I am feeling it will be the Gonzies...

I've had my money on the Gozanti the OP posted for a couple months now... Well not money, credits... Actually, just imaginary credits.. That I owe to an imaginary Hutt.
I like the Vigil corvette, but even at the Huge ship scale it would be nearly as long as both rebel ships combined and probably as wide as the cr90 is long. I just don't see it happening.
At first I read that as "giant space bong"
The Lancer-class doesn't feel Imperial. It looks more like a merchant ship.

It just might...
I've cast my vote for the Lancer before, as I really like the Dreadnought-inspired look. It's also a good foil to the CR90 as it's loaded up with ions and quad lasers, but, as far as I can remember, is limited in long-range firepower. Perhaps it will have a ton of built-in quads with very few customizable hardpoints? That strikes me as very Imperial.
Of course, the Gozanti is pretty much a given, but if not the Lancer, then I'll bet on the Vigil. It's small and triangular, and I think many fans want a "microSD".
That small escort carrier looks amazing, though.
I can't wait for a big Imperial ship. As a primarily Imperial player, it just feels wrong to roast TIEs in a CR90, but it's as close to Imperial-style support-ship combat as I'll get at the moment.
Edited by bayruunWhat I like about this dude is that unlike some of the old video game artists, he doesn't forget what an Imperial ship is supposed to look like:

Please let it be anything but that giant space dong.
I've read this kind of comment in several places...
If this ship really looks like a ***** to you, please go see a doctor.
As somebody who played Rogue Squadron III, that Imperial Escort Carrier is indeed 150m. No smaller. No larger. It doesn't launch standard TIEs. It launches TIE Hunters, which are -considerably- smaller.
It would be an amazing choice.
I'd love to see some new hardpoint options. Perhaps Missile or Torpedo batteries that grant the appropriate upgrade slots and allow you to spend energy tokens instead of discarding the missile. Or Tractor Beams that could allow you to spend energy to reduce a ship's speed. Could also lead to new crew member options to promote specialization with those weapons as well.
I'm casting my vote on the Vigil.
Just looking at the picture, the model for hardpoints would practically be perfect (3 single or double turbo lasers mounts, and 3 quad laser mounts). Perhaps they could mix it up, say it doesn't have a primary weapon, but can shoot a single secondary for free each turn? Plus the Fore section can shoot it's secondaries in a 180deg arc, whereas the aft mimics the CR90's side arcs. Also its bigger for sure, so it could be more hull and shields.
Business side, the model would be bigger, so they could charge more for it (over $100 USD). This is a risk, but they have a couple factors going for them. There are no epic Imperial ships, and almost everyone is dying to hear (and buy) one. So if you only have one option for an Imperial epic ships, I think a good number of people will bite the bullet. Also, who doesn't want to have two epic ships broadsiding each other with turbo laser fire while the fighters are mixing it up in the center? Plus it looks the part, having the feel of the the ISD, but also being a bit unique, which could help with some impulse buying. Its also a chance to release some imperial only cards
. If they are smart they can time the release during the 'slow' point, after the 'smaller' wave 5 comes out, and maybe before any new 'Aces' boxes or wave 6. Let everyone's wallet recover, and make a good Christmas gift. The Decimator would also act as a pseudo 0 point epic ship, so you really only need one big Imperial one, at least for a little while.

Yes.
Though, will a Vigil be very playable? How big of a mat will you need to do any maneuvers?
You'd at least need a 4x6 table to scoot it around. Anything smaller and it's a terrain piece with guns on it.
The Vigil movement would be a bit tricky, unless they do make it a two stand ship (the center peg could be made with a wider top and bottom to help balance the larger model without having to go to a tripod base setup).
I'm just gonna be happy when whatever Imperial huge ship comes out. I'm holding off on the tantive till I see if the Empire epic will be worth it.
Please let it be anything but that giant space dong.

Amen, brother. Hopefully the Freud Frigate never gets produced.
But, if FFG whips it out, you can dock it here:
