Imperial HUGE Ships...I'm Calling It.

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

At least you got yours in the right place Mike.. lol

Make that TIEfanatic.

Dude, your own name's lack of even the conventional use of capital letters should make you glad I granted you the one.

Well, i suppose that's true, but if you're gonna do the one capital, you might as well give me all of them. [emph. added]

Nope - and, see you failed to use another one where you should have applied one. It's pretty rich that you're trying to lecture me on capitalization, when your own use of capital letters is wanting. :P

Sorry about that, normally I write perfectly capitalized words. But at least I use commas, and periods.

Getting away from grammar fights... how would an Imperial big ship work, anyhow? The CR90 isn't exactly a heavyweight ship, as I understand it, and I've blasted an equivalent pointage of Imperial fighters with it. What are we expecting from the Gozanti? How about the Lancer/Vigil/Victory IIF?

Did we ever hear anything from those who were actually present at the Gen Con In-Flight Report Q&A session?

Did anyone ask about Imperial Huge Ships? if so, what did FFG say?

What about conversations at the FFG booth? Anything?

In case anyone else missed it, Team Covenant now has the FFG Gen Con In-Flight Report (plus Q&A session) video up:

http://teamcovenant.com/blog/2014/08/25/fantasy-flights-inflight-report-2014/

I have not watched it yet, but one commenter there ("muon") states the following:

Some points that were not clear before watching that video

-FFG has the next 18 months prepared and locked out of modification in general across its lines

-A Ship from the Star Wars Rebel cartoon is coming into X-Wing

-Huge ships for the Empire (and we easily guess Scum & Villainy) is a 100% sure thing, Armada will not prevent that at all

-There’s no tension between FFG and Disney over the usage of the IP currently.

Awesome, thanks for sharing. I can't watch the video at the moment, but that doesn't prevent me from speculating on points you quoted.

  • I am curious what the first point means. Does it mean that the next 18 months worth of releases is in its final draft form and ready to be sent to the printers?
  • I think that the second point lends weight to the probability of the Gozanti from Rebels as an Imperial Imperial huge ship.

If think the 18-month schedule means that they have planned and tested the upcoming releases and don't intend to change them unless something drastic happens. That's very good news, as it means that they are working on a consistent schedule and won't have any scrambling or unbalanced releases happening.

Glad to see that Imperial, and maybe Scum, Huge ships will get some love. Don't know if it means that the Gozanti is a lock just because they said a Rebels ship will show up, I have a feeling that the Ghost might be one that we see. Not that I don't think the Gozanti is a bad choice, just a thought.

Oh we'll see the Gozanti- again for the point I've stated before.

It will be a recognizably Imperial starship in that size. It will be the one casual fans can immediately identify as, "That imperial ship from Rebels".

That's why we'll get it.

Let's see more pictures of that Nebulon-B. That was, by far, the most valuable post in this thread.

Yeah, the Gozanti is what I *WANT* to see, because I think it would fill a gap in the game -- but when I hear "one of the ships from Rebels will be added," my first thought is that it would "obviously" be the Ghost, because that's the hero ship, and thus surely that's what EVERYBODY WANTS, right? Never mind that it's pretty much just another squat "Falcon" sort of ship, only a bit bigger (43.9m) and with fewer greebles.

(There must be something wrong with me, as they even have a Mandalorian, and still I'm more interested in the bad guys -- and their tech -- than in the good guys so far.)

So I say it's going to be the Ghost and not the Gozanti. I HEREBY DARE THE UNIVERSE TO PROVE ME WRONG ABOUT THIS! (Pretty please? ;) )

P.S., I'll second the motion on more pictures of the Nebulon-B model. I'm never going to get one unless I start making one myself out of bottles and foam-core and "bitz," so I'll just vicariously live through others' picture posts. :D

Went back through the thread a bit...Can I have ALL these ships made? Can we get to a fourth wave of just Epic? I want the game to last that long. That would be fine by me. I'm not even sure the first ship I want is the Gozanti any more haha. It would almost make sense for the to release the bigger of what is hopefully two different ships first it occurred to me. That would be very in line with how the Empire operates anyway.

A Gonzati does cover two of those 4 points (probably even the third about lack of tension between Disney and FFG) quite nicely.

Let's be honest in the past 40 years Star Wars is probably the best example of IP cooperation and Collaboration across the entire spectrum, between 6 Movies, cartoons, comics, video games, and the EU. Rather than trying to shut down people looking to expand the brand Lucasfilm encouraged it as long as it didn't contradict existing works and didn't set bad things up (IE killing off major characters on a whim) and accept any publicity is good publicity. I doubt that that will change much at Disney (okay the EU was locked in the closet but let's be honest it did block off a major chunk of the post Endor timeline), they will still work well licensing out things to other companies because if X Corp has an idea to make money on Star Wars Disney makes more from the license than they do by not letting X Corp do it and not doing it themselves.

I agree on most of your post except this particular point.

Will "casual" Star Wars fans even watch Rebels? I for one consider myself a big Star Wars fan... but I never watched The Clone Wars series. I don't know all that many people who did.

Looks like there's been a bit of painting going on!

Children.

Ok ok... I finally made it... The Gozanti Crusier :)

The scale is WAY off, but mostly because those 42m dont make any sense at all.

This one is around 3cm longer than the Rebel Transport.

Ive designed it with 4 small pegs on the belly to fit 4 fighters. I cant guarantee this will work... as you know shapeways materials arent that precise and we are talking about puting them upside down.

That turned out nice Mel!

:)

Looks good!

Whooooooooo!page 43.

Now that's a hell of a surprise! Lovely work Mel.. and I really like the TIE inclusions!

EDIT: Ohhhhh my life it's available in FUD as well... I wonder how it will look with a couple of M3-A's docked under it?

Well, there is a way of knowing ;)

Awwwwwesome! Are you by any chance going to make an "Imperial Refit" variant as well? (That is, with the "skirt" that gives it a slightly more wedge-like outline when viewed from above or below?)

As for the dangling TIEs, perhaps this would be a good place to hang a few Micro Machines rather than dedicating FFG TIEs to the purpose.

In any case, it looks wonderful! :D

Actually, according to the Star Wars Rebels Visual Guide, the Imperial Refit Gozanti is 63.8 m long. The regular gozanti should be the same length.

This one, if you take the 1/270 scale, is 70m long. And even so the TIEs look smaller on the Rebels image.

About the Imperial Re-Fit, yes, I guess I could do it... Although its clearly uglier.

I think it's better looking, just knowing it serves the Emperor.
