Imperial HUGE Ships...I'm Calling It.

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

Hm, Yes, I VERY much look forward to seeing LTJGBeam 's pictures of this ship. I wonder if at that scale it can get away with the fuzzy finish. Also, I'm curious if some sanding would take care of it, or make it worse.

However, I want to chime in against the relativism that is setting in over here. Yes, everyone has an opinion, but not all opinions are of equal value unless they're about personal taste. There is an optimal size for playability, just as there is an optimal price point for any product. Just because opinions differ on what those are, doesn't mean that they don't exist.

Also, President Obama mandating X-Wing as the new national pastime. There's a Keynesian stimulus package I can get behind.

Finally, Captain Lackwit , your Lancer fixation is starting to seem pathological. I think there are nightclubs where you can find an outlet to your ...erm... desires.

Anyway, GenCon is just a few days away. We probably should start finalizing our bets/calls on what will be the Imperial Huge.

I tend to think they are (aware of those problems) as well, and the release of Armada kind of says so to me. They know people like big ships, and are providing a forum so X-wing players can have their cake (Armada has little squadrons) and eat it too (ships up to corvette-size in X-Wing).

You know... I have been a major supporter of these Huge ships in glorious Epic from the start.

Now that FFG have shown us their (our) all mighty Armada... Uh-Oh's :o   ... we might be in for some frownies.

:( !!!

I still think FFG will make some Imperial Huge ships ... because... come on guys! Rebel ONLY Huge ships for Epic... Hels-Nah!

I think that most of these beautiful Huge Models we have talked about are not likely to be made for Epic... now.

:(

The good news: I am certain that we will get them all in STAR WARS Armada .

I can dig it.

:D

...it's about the model being Too big, and too expensive..

You should really add "for me" to the end of that sentence, so it is portrayed more properly as the personal opinion that it actually is.

Because it certainly ain't a fact, kiddo. Not by a long shot.

Same could be saidd for what you just said.. 'for you' but honestly.. it is too big and that is a fact... and not just for me.. many others share that opinion. You seem to hold the misconception that your opinion is the only one that matters, and I'll point to your signature, which is obviously a hope and dream, but far from truth or fact.

And really... kiddo... I'm 50... really

Did you hear the one about Shapeways miniatures being added to the Tournament rules??

Ahh, infantile dreams, to be so young again,... they don't even have proper pilot cards,

Mel's has a turret slot and no way to produce a focus token for the Blaster turret, mua-ah-ah-ah.

I am royally confused.

A few more days left to GenCon; can't wait! I think it'll be a V shaped ship with Tie Advanced (we all know that ship sorely needs a Refit of some sort - discussed in the other thread). :)

Before you make me sift through those links, could you tell me where I might find the allowance for Shapeways miniatures, or are you pulling my leg in order to make me not find that rule, but rather its opposite? I'm guessing DUH! the latter.

i was thinking maybe a lancer class frigate to combat the cr90

Traditionally (Starwars Rebellion etc) the Carrack Class Light Cruiser is the direct CR90 equivolent

That may be, and certainly FFG gives the video-gamers a lot more love than the RPG players, but I'm nor sure SW: Rebellion makes me feel like singing "Tradition!"

Also, the Carrack-class is 3x as long as the CR-90, and generally looks ... just off.. with that big window.

Given all the recent announcements, and the impending ones this weekend, perhaps "If I Were a Rich Man" would be more appropriate anyways.

Well said, we could probably do an entire Fiddler on the Roof X-Wing routine.

Squadbuilder, Squadbuilder, make me a list,...

Sadly.for obvious reasons. (it would be nice to see my stuff in a tournament) I did read through it and it still says that only 'official' models are tourney legal

Yup, Gabe is blowing smoke up our rear ends.

I think it was a jab at our insurance company front man.. lol

I use the analogy ONCE And I have a fixation!?

The nerve!

Funny how when I suggest something creative I get "the rules" thrown at me,

but when I point to the rules it's blowing smoke. ha ha ha,

How stupid do you need to be to take something serious

that starts with " did you hear the one about ..."

I'm going to take a wild guess that you're not teaching logic.

The Legacy Version. Focus Tokens included.

Really I would bet anyone who buys a Nebulon B Frigate for the fighter dogfight game

X-wing Miniatures, will use it in a game once, realize how unworkable it is,

and then it will become a very expensive shelf ornament.

Some how this makes sense for a ship that is twice the length and four times the fire power:

I do believe Joe Boss opened this thread to talk about the

very real miniature productions by FFG for the X-wing miniatures game,

not the ridiculously fantastical homebrew card suggestion of a 300 meter ship (see chart above).

Really, the CR90 has 6 turrets, the Nebulon B has 24 turrets... do the math...

I can see his suggestion of an Imperial Gozanti and Vigil Corvette

as possible despite not both being my first choice.

So we love the new Large Ships for Wave Five, and we have seen what FFG has done for the Alliance Huge Ships. I am calling the Imperial response, for fun, and because I think this is going to happen.

We are likely going to get an Imperial Gozanti Cruiser for the GR-75 Transport equivalent.

And an Imperial Vigil Corvette for the Tantive IV equivalent.

These ships are doable in the same way that FFG did the Alliance Huge ships.

What do you all think?

Let's give a big warm welcome to all Huge ships that will be announced at GenCon.

All would be awesome.

Will it be the:

Briefcase Action 6?

The weirdly shaped Nebulon Frigate?

The "Not-pictured-here" in the RPG Vigil?

The AssAssIn Corvette?

Even the found in the Adult Book Store Ship?

Bring it all. I don't need no stinkin' Armada.

"... not the ridiculously fantastical homebrew card suggestion of a 300 meter ship"

Can you guys smell the double standard? I can smell it.

ANYONE CARE TO DOUBLE CHECK THE MATH IN THE SECOND IMAGE?
I'm going to go figure out what the lengths are and edit this after.

66.88 x 29.43 meters, @ 1/400, 16.72 cm x 7.36 cm

Well, the ' Did you hear the one about... ' was offered without context. You didn't cite someone making the allegation, and I can't recall anyone making that allegation.

Also, given your past behavior on the forum, I figured you were a troll anyways, so I wasn't going to waste my time.

Everyone else: do I have my taxonomy right? Is Gabe a troll or some related creature?

I do not think he is trying to be a troll. He should try to relax and learn to chill out. If people do not love his ideas he gets upset, and that is not cool IMO.

Chill and have fun Gabe... Fly Casual.

I find people on here can dish it out, but they themselves can't take it. I've taken it as par for this site that people call each other a " Troll " when they can't reason their way through a disagreement, and par for this site that people falsely accuse others and bully others, flame-bait, and belittle... and joking or not, I consider some of it sexual harassment. But the moderators don't care, and for that reason I stopped caring, and feel fine in telling anyone when I think they have done something stupid, because I can prove to myself it really was something dumb and no amount of reporting stops it from happening to me when I know it wasn't. I don't consider it trolling, and that accusation is a pathetic whiny cop out. I don't care if people disagree with me or dislike my ideas, because I know others do agree, and I wait to be proven wrong on any given point. I stopped writing in anger early on here, but amusing derision is another story, especially when derisive sarcasm is pretty much par for this site.

Some of the most foul offenders:

Vorpal Sword , WonderWAAAGH , iPeregrine , sirhc , FTS Gecko

So do you want to see that miniature or not,

I did that math so you could have your thread back on topic.

What inspired me to do it, if you look carefully, was that the fore

TIE fighter seemed to begin where the forward hull ends.

Did you notice that?

I'm still waiting on an official size for the Gozanti carrier but I'm really thinking it's closer to CR-90 sized than GR-75, somewhere between 100-120 meters long

110ish, looks like.

That always bugged me too. It doesn't look remotely as big as it's said to be.
