Imperial HUGE Ships...I'm Calling It.

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

More pictures of the Nebulon B. This time with the custom stand put together by my friend Silent Jim. The man is a genius when it comes to scratch-building. The Base is brass rod, wood disks and acrylic sheet. The attachment points on the model slide into the brass rod for a snug fit.

She is coming along quite nicely, and is large enough for the Rebel Transport to fly under, even with the stand lowered to give her a lower center of gravity, and make her more stable, I suspect the Tantive IV will fit under as well, but didn't have it with me to confirm.

I think I'm going to find a nice quiet little room for a while.

Just me and my tablet.

That is one gorgeous piece of work.

I wish I were at home on my VPN so I can see it. I've been eyeing the Mel Nebulon B for a while now.

Very Nice...I think because the Neb-B is vertically so tall...It really feels a lot bigger, and I think at this scale it can actually move around on the table. The huge scale one will be a monster.

People have argued what ships the Empire should have based on size and the lore. I think it is time to discuss what ships make sense game play and rules wise!

The Lancer is not as popular from an appearance or "recognizability" stance, but I think from a game play stance it maybe the best canidite.

Right now the CR90 comes with two weapons that really don't feel suitable for engaging star fighters. The main weapon really feels like it is best used against large or huge ships. The single turbolasers feel the same. Now the Empire could end up with a huge ship equally armed, with Epic becoming two games, one of huge ships slugging it out while another game of star fighter duels takes place around them. That sounds awesome and would be totally down with that. But the game theorist in me got to thinking how to intertwine all the parts and add more of a combined forces feel.

The Lancer was a frigate, but it wasn't intended to counter other frigates, it's prey was fighters and gunboats! TIE fighters and bombers are already procient at taking down the CR90. The Empire doesn't need another anti-huge ship, but something to escort them would be beneficial! And now the main weapons and single trbolasers of the CR90 have a target more suitable. It creates a web of advantages and disadvantages that makes a game more tactical.

Lancer counters Rebel fighters

Rebel counters Imperial fighters

Imperial fighters counters CR90

CR90 counters Lancer

I know it is a bit "gamie" but having the Lancer would make a more intertwined game structure. I hope this spurs some discussion. If you think another ship would make sense rules are game play wise I would love to read your thoughts!

Honestly, with how slow the releases flow, I'd just like to hear about the Imperial Huges finally, at least one of them, even if they were like " Not until end of the year 2015 ! " that would be fine.

Sasquatch. Chupacabra. Imperial Huge Ship.

Yeah, I think I caught a blurry picture of one once, it was moving through the woods, the imperial huge ship that is.

May have asked this before but is there a reason FFG could not create a baby star destroyer for X-wing? A number of current options just look like garbage, ie the Lancer. The customs corvette though stands out to me as not terrible looking. I think a lot of people would prefer a wedge-shaped ship that could easily and instantly be identified as Imperial and that is pretty much only a baby star destroyer.

Is this what you saw moving through the woods?

And I think that beats any other post we'll see today.

Brilliant piece! lmao.

Just thought I would mention. At 910+ replies, this is the longest topic on the x-wing board (so far).

Just something I noticed.

Yes, that pic is exactly what I saw moving in the woods. Amazing clarity on the close up in the hand. Perhaps that is why we've heard nothing of the Imperial huge ships, the **** Squatch keep stealing them !!

... and much of this stuff is solid gold... some less so.

Dammit why didn't you take your french maid feather duster and knock that Vigil out of the thieving hand of honey horror?!

I didn't know what I was looking at when it happened !! It was all I could do to snap that quick picture, thank god our fine community could pick out what was in the hand. Another mystery solved, but the new one is, when will FFG stop this theft and shore up their stocks on impending imperial huges ?

I can see why they want them however, it looks so good.

Well, maybe an Imperial Gozanti. I don't need to eat this month, do I?
