Nah - people who buy the Shapeways epic ships are more than likely to buy the inevitable Imperial Epic ships anyway.

Tell me I'm wrong, Joe! Tell me I'm wrong! ;)

Those Gozantis look incredible.

Someone hurry up and buy one so we can see the TIEs hanging off the bottom!

I think I'd probably go for the first version myself. Black Sun Gozanti for the Scum.

Despite the upcoming Rebels series and the TIE racks, I'm still having a hard time accepting the Gozanti as an Imperial ship.

Has anybody perchance come up with home-brew stats for the "epic" Gozanti yet? I suppose I could just treat it as a CR90 proxy, but I thought I'd check in case there was something else already out there. (Plus, I get the idea from the Age of Rebellion stats that the Gozanti shouldn't be quite as much of a heavy hitter as the CR90.)

I like both for their own merits.

Oh, I'm not denying that the Imperial Gozanti doesn't look great as well, Joe. I just don't think it really "fits" the typical Empire aesthetic (go big or go home), that's all.

That looks fantastic.

The Imperial Gonzati just looks so...Imperial. Heavier looking and somewhat more ponderous. Perfect pocket carrier.

Precisely. It just looks really mean.

Regarding Gozanti variants ... I hit the book store today and ran across the "Visual Guide" to the new Rebels TV series in the kiddie section. I can't find any legit images handily available on the internet to cross-link to (and I figure that my SCANNING an image from a book would be patently illegal) but I found it interesting that there was mention of the "Broken Horn," a variant on the "C-ROC Gozanti-class Cruiser," used by the Broken Horn crime syndicate on Lothal.

Roughly speaking, the design adds the sort of "snowplow" scoop on the front that is reminiscent of Jabba's skiffs and yacht from "Return of the Jedi," and also of his luxury space yacht, and then "soups up" the engines by apparently doubling up the ion engines on the sides and then adding another one up top for overkill, with external cargo pod racks running along a "shelf" on each side. Annnnd ... that's pretty much useless for communicating what it actually looks like, I suppose, compared to what a PICTURE would accomplish, but I'm hoping at some point it'll pop up. It seems to me that it'd work nicely as the "Scum & Villainy" version of the ship, if the Empire gets the "Imperial Refit," and if the default version would work best for the Rebel Alliance.

Jordan thanks for the info, I've been trying to work out what that ship was since the 1st concept art was teased online. Always thought it was another bigger Gozanti family ship, never thought it was a mod of the cruiser but looking at it now that I know that I can see it.

Well,

A. I thought you described it quite well, had a good picture in my head from it.

B. I think that looks sufficiently different that it should be its own ship class, not a modification of the regular gozanti.

C. I don't like it anywhere near as much as a regular gozanti.

Beautiful job on this. super impressed you could model this from the total of like 3 images you can find of the ship online I WANTS ONE NOW :D , but the top turret should be a double barrel not single.

Actually, I'm sure I saw that concept art before, but I didn't make the connection. Thanks for employing your superior Google-fu to dig it up! :D

Ripping off an image link from another FFG forum thread, the design element reminds me of Jabba's Space Yacht:

hutt_cruiser_screnshot.jpg

I could see it as being a visual unifying element for "scum & villainy." (I imagine the reason for this feature being on Jabba's space yacht is for a visual connection with his luxury yacht and the skiffs on Tatooine from Return of the Jedi.)

I was going to bring up the Sorosuub Luxury Yacht as another example, but when I dug up a picture, it didn't look quite like I'd mis-remembered it. I thought there was a third ship with the "duckbill" element that was associated with Hutt ships, but I can't find anything after a casual search, and suspect my imagination is just getting away with me again. ;)

In another thread it won't let me link from official arts been released 63.8 for the gozanti length, which makes it too small compared to the cr 90 doesn't it?

If it was to scale with the CR90 it would be less than half as long. But it's worth bearing in mind that the GR-75 and CR-90 were both produced at different scales.

The problem with the Gozanti is obviously the TIE docking ports. If the idea is to have TIE's docked with the Gozanti, then anything other than 1/270 will look odd.

I'm a Reb player but I collect Imps too. Until recently I had no interest in Huge Ships. Then I got a good deal on the Reb Transport. Love the model! I haven't even played an Epic game yet but am super keen to try it.

Anyway, to my lovely friends at FFG - if you make the Vigil, I will buy at least one of them.
Really truly honest!

Hi just_chris. Another fan of the happy space whale? It's a great ship - it might be unarmed but with a couple of upgrades it's an excellent support ship and fun to fly. Cheap, too!

About the 63.8m for the Gozanti Cruiser. The problem is Rebels TIE Fighters are very small. Remember all that stuff about the TIE Fighters size and if FFG had done the proper scale? Well, this guys clearly chose the small TIE Fighter. You can see it in that other clip where people are running around one.

So if I want to fit the FFG TIE fighters it has to be bigger. Mine is 70m at 1/270 scale. I also had to keep the 1/270 scale unlike any other huge ship. If you consider my size formula then it is 105m at 1/405 scale.

So basically, its a 25,5cm Gozanti Cruiser that can fit 4 TIE Fighters.
