'Starting' freighters

By I. J. Thompson, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hi!

I need to ask you guys (because my players are asking me), which of the many freighters (or patrol boats!) statted so far would you consider to be 'starting' freighters? I'm looking for stuff that isn't ridiculously overpowered. I have all the books, so I'll have stats for anything you suggest. I'm just not totally on top of the rules so far, and since none of the craft have a big green flag that says 'this is a starting freighter', I could use your help!

If it helps narrow it down, we're talking about a crew of 2 (maybe 3), here.

I would consider all freighters/ patrol boats which cost around 120 000 Cr or less as starting ships

The CRB suggests anything with a listed price of 120,000 credits I think.

Excellent. Thank you guys, that'll help a great deal! :)

The Loronar E-9 Explorer-class Scout Vessel from Enter the Unknown is a great starter ship. It normally takes a crew of 4, but the loadmaster position is mostly a holdover from when it was initially released as a freighter and doesn't really need to be filled.

Yeah, it's 120,000. Page 99 at the beginning of the "Selecting a Ship" rules.

I've found the surronian conqueror (Dangerous covenants) is excellent for a small group.

Larger groups tend to "need" a bigger ship than those available at the start. The wayfarer suffers from while been big having not much for players to do in it other than lug cargo.

The Conqueror is a nice little ship. The only thing I dislike about it is the really small complement + passengers capacity. Well, that and the fact that it advertises its function as an assault ship. While it's not Restricted, it still might attract the wrong kind of attention.
