Just got the Morgul Vale and was thinking about the best way to use him, perhaps combining with spirit so I can take advantage of steed of the mark. What hero combos have you tried? I was thinking Theoden, Dunhere, and Thalin.

I have seen some Hama Theoden Dunhere. Getting Eomund and ride to ruin with other rohan allies that can discard themself. Very powerfull with weapon and mount.

Theoden with Hama and Bard then :

power quest of 6, and cycling thicket of spear with some hamer stroke.

Thalin is a very good alternative against 1 hit point surge enemies, but damaging enemies was not a problem with thicket of spear.

Right now I am running Eowyn, Eomer, Theoden for a pure Rohan deck. It's got a great thematic element and Theoden does pretty good. Between Eowyn and Theoden you can quest for 7, and still have Theoden to defend or attack (with Steed of the Mark), with Eomer being your main damage dealer. I run a lot of very low cost allies/attachments/events so that I can afford the resource cost for SotM. The initial threat is a bit high, that's the main disadvantage. I try to counter this with Arwen and Elrond's Council.

Often I run this deck 2 player alongside a dwarf deck that includes Thalin, so that's an added bonus.

Thinking about it, maybe going lower threat with Glorfindel, Dunhere, and Theodred would allow more consistent attacks I the staging area. Plus, Glorfindel and Theodred would be questing for 6 with steed.

In my experience he is best used in multiplayer for several reasons

1: Greater potential to maximize the use of his ability with more heroes (tactics ones anyway) on the field

2: Having a deck with leadership can give him access to steward of gondor which in turn...

3: Can allow you to run gondorian (proficiently) shield to boost his defense and make use of that sentinel ability as well as give you enough resources to reliably use...

4: Steed of the mark every turn. Having spirit can also let you run Unexpected Courage which he is a great candidate for with all those large stat points
