77 players at the FFG regionals!

By pbpanchotest, in X-Wing

Plenty of top 8 regional finishers, a world champ, and a North American champ. We're doing 7 rounds of Swiss so this is going to be nuts.

****, that's going to be a long day for the ones that make the final 8....7 rounds plus up to 3 more if you make the final match. We had 6 rounds at Kublacon and I was fine till the final round when I hit the wall as the day caught up to me.

Awesome. Madrid still had the most so far at 116 though!

For stats tracking on the Regionals thread, I'll take the top 25 after Swiss, even if the Final Cut is only to Top 8 / Top 16. Assuming we can get the list. :-)

How long are the swiss rounds?

Should be an hour, at least in my experience.

awesome! I'd be eternally grateful if you could post a few pics of the printed and posted round pairing/result sheets! (I have some buds I'd like to keep track of)

Wow, seven rounds is madness. The tournament won't end until tomorrow morning!

Who's betting on who? If only we had a list of names with squads to choose from. It would be like watching the World Cup! (I guess. I hate Futball. Who designs a sport where use of one of your primary evolutionary features is disallowed? And where running faster than your opponent can be a penalty?).

What regional is it?

I'm jealous. I wanna be there!

I'll post pairings. 65 minutes per round, no lunch breaks.

This just reinforces the belief I have that double elimination is just a better format.

Think about how many lose 3 games and leave ruining other peoples strength of schedule. or lose 4 games etc. Your ability to make the top cut shouldn't have to depend on other people staying the full rounds of swiss.

Even the FIFA format with groups leading to the finals is better.

drat, looks like hothie lost his first game :-(

sweet, hothie's back on page one at board 15. and Kinetic's on board 1. pbpancho, thanks for posting!!

I'm in the twin cities for the weekend, but we're taking my girlfriends dad to the Mall of America for Father's Day so I couldn' make the tournament. There were rumors Wave 4 would be in stock, any truth to those(I'm guessing not?)

Sozin, I won first round, 3-3 so far. Have only lost one game I was way ahead on. Dice fail at the end if that one. Lots of great players here. MIss you guys!

Looking at lists of names, one conclusion really springs to mind: what a sausagefest.

Then you need to look closer to the top of page 1. Siri and Arianna are both doing very well.
