Wedge and Rogue Squadron is predominantly picking off and dealing with the fighter Escorts so Salm's Defender Wing are free to launch torpedoes. But ya... he'll be chasing around your fighter cover..
0 defense die?!?!
I think many people have over looked the most shocking part of the wave 5 reveal... the Decimator has no defense dice. Not. A. One. Anything that goes its direction is going to decimate it. Doesn't seem very sturdy even with 16 hp.
It is actually quite similar in durability with the Falcon. The most common attack in the game is 3 dice with focus. Against, zero agility, this averages 2.25 uncancelled hits per attack. 16/2.25=7.1111111, or between 7 and 8 attacks to destroy it. The Falcon has one evade die. 3 focused dice vs 1 unfocused die averages 1.881 uncancelled hits per attack. 13/1.881=6.9112, or between 6-7 attacks to destroy a Falcon. The Decimator actually has a slight advantage, but only just. Both require quite close to 7 attacks. Obviously, these are averages, and dice will always be dice. This model also doesn't consider critical hits, but, this shows that from a durability point of view, they are actually quite similar. This explains the similar cost. Both have 3 die 360 primaries, and are pretty similar as far as durability.
Edited by Engine25I still say this thing needs reinforce. It looks and acts like a crossover between large and capital ships and it could get the ability and that would be amazing. Also if you were to expose on it that would lower range 3 to 0 agility dice too. Don't overlook the bomb slot on this thing. Proton bombs will punish range 1 attackers if the VT survives the round, and don't forget this thing will shoot before a lot of ships and many of them can be 1 shot. If you are using the high end guy he gets a partial focus action for free.
No way, the only thing keeping the reinforce action balanced is the fact that you can only do it to one section at a time, on a ship without sections it would be broken as all heck.

Yeah after play testing I decided it would be beyond broken. Even tie swarm and b wing squads couldn't dent it with reinforce. It really doesn't need it. I used a HWK dial for it because that is my best bet for the minimum dial style it would have. B wings seem to be the best against it. The shields keep them alive long enough to do enough damage. The Phantom I used as backup however toasted them afterward. 2 polar opposite ships, and they are quite a team.
My initial indignation has passed. While I realize they are strikingly similar, which is why I compared them in the first place, maybe I was down on VT because well... its not the falcon. Nothing can replace the falcon That said, I will probably buy one for the cards if nothing else.
It has a Green 2-Bank.lets be clear. I play mostly rebels and YT and B are my favorite ships. Both have dials that support 1 defense die (the B-wing should not avoid red maneuvers, in fact ive found that it's survival depends on it). I can't see such a large Imperial freighter having a dial anywhere close to decent
Ships that have a Green 2-Bank: A-Wing, E-Wing, TIE, TIE Interceptor, TIE Phantom
Ships that do not have a Green 2-Bank: Everything else.
It's looking to have a strong dial if you ask me...
Tie Bomber also has green 2 bank i believe.
But hey i don't see it as a huge problem. 1 agility ships not making considerable efforts towards defense roll a 3/8 evades only so their 1 agility is not exacly 1 evade per turn, its closer to 1/3 evade. Now compare it again to a falcon. The falcon has 13 HP total and if it gets shot at it would survive about the same amount of hits than the decimator. It would roll 3-4 evades against its 16 hits and die just as fast.
I am not mathematically versed really but i think they have about the same survivability with the falcon having an edge if you are lucky on evades and the decimator if you are unlucky.
I'm not too concerned. Outmaneuver is a thing now, and given its size I highly doubt this ship is going to be capable of keeping its enemies in its firing arc, which means that there's a pretty high chance your one agility would be gone anyway. This is just cutting out the middle man, and undoubtedly will have aided in keeping its cost down.
Plus, given the evade token that comes with the ship, the set will undoubtedly have a way of getting those tokens on your ship.
