The training wheels are apparently Monster Truck wheels now...

That' an acceptable loss to add an agility to each roll sent at me for a round. Especially when rolling Heavy laser cannon dice. The added suvivability means a lot more to a ship that expensive. After all, 3 Defense dice and 10 Hull. That could take a while.(Especially with Recon Specialist or Lando.)

This would put your ship at 51 points. At that price and having to fly well and being fortunate with asteroid placing and hoping your opponent doesn't fly better... sounds like a fair deal to me.

this ship singlehandedly will make me start collecting rebels, sooooooo awesome.

Movement is pretty important, but if you haven't noticed this game is totally flat on power level, you really can make a squad of anything and play it against anything and any match can be anyones game. Ignoring the movement is made up for on power level by making him cost extra points and making him cost more points to avoid spending 40 on 2 attack dice, even if it is a tank.

this is a totally unique and cool ship--and its really not time to complain, I'm sure using it effectively will come with its own set of stipulations like any other ship, even the falcon.

I don't think anything in this game is overpowered. Everything has a counter and every squad/ship has a weakness. It is up to us to choose what our strengths and weaknesses are.

If you have a concern about a certain combo - take a squad to counter it! I accept the fact that whilst many of the squads I use are good all rounders, I will likely face a squad in a Tournament that is (in theory) a hard counter and I need to fly well and pray for good dice to get a win.

FFG have done a consistent and excellent job of keeping the ships and waves balanced. At first glance some ships/abilities seem very powerful but I think we are now realising that new Waves will bring balance and counters.

Example: I had a massive concern about Echo's ability and him being the greatest pilot in the game if flown well. Now Han Solo is an obvious and consistent counter to Echo but not much else apart from cunning tactics and ship/upgrade selection. Now Wave 5 is spoiled, there are some other great options on both sides to counter.

Moral of the story - FFG have given us a beautifully balanced game, sometimes it will require us to alter our previous 'go to squads' to find the new balance and employ it well.

After seeing the new stuff for Wave 5, I thought a lot of it was really cool. Finally getting a token-passer for the Imperials is good, and Lando is going to be very awesome on both the YT-1300 and 2400. But then I happened to see Dash Rendar… and in my head I kinda lost it a little.

Sure, ever since the Falcon first came out, there's been a huge amount of sour grapes from the more Imperial-slanted or Imperial Exclusive players out there. And it's reasonable. I was (and sometimes still am) one of them. A ship that is its own "easy mode", that doesn't really have to care where it ends up and still fires at full strength at anything on the board. It seems that it takes a large percentage out of what this game is. That is to say, planning clever maneuvers and approaches to maximize your damage output and evasiveness. It became a no brainer. That one craft changed the meta forever.

For a good long while, I'd figured that eventually they'd come out with something that could mitigate the effect of asteroids. But I'd always hoped it would be a small craft pilot, something maneuverable and cheap that could duck around asteroids but that otherwise wouldn't really matter too much. Maybe a little ship for new players to include until they get used to maneuvering and can move on to something else. After all, a TIE is still a TIE and can die like one. And if not that, at least an EPT so both sides had equal access to an ability that is in no way flavored for one side or the other.

But really now, FFG? A (rebel exclusive) ship that can move anywhere, fire anywhere, land anywhere, with absolutely no regard for the other half of what makes this game so strategic? Don't have to care where you end up, don't have to care what maneuver you pick, don't even have to suffer if you land smack dab on an asteroid? Just barrel roll off it without even having to take Expert Handling?

I just can't help but think that in a game that is part maneuvering and evading, and the other part avoiding colliding with obstacles, that making a ship that can fire on anything from almost anywhere and that doesn't have to care about obstacles is just… I don't know. It just seems to defeat the entire point of the game.

gonna throw this at you,

dont know if it was brought up yet, i didnt read all the posts, so forgive me if this is a repeat.

that card only covers obstacles right? who says the debris feild is going to fall under obstacles?

also if he takes a cannon slot, he cannot fire at you at range 1 at all. so high PS ships with boost and barrel roll can really get in there under his guns so to speak and pound him at range 1 without fear of being hit.

and if he doesnt go with a cannon upgrade its only attack 2, i have yet to face an ORS that i cant smear with my squints.

just sayin, this is not as broken as it may seem, and we still dont know what the debris will be clasified as

Guys actually fly ships for other reasons than it's your favorite? Sounds awful.

I am huge dash fan and the outrider model looks great that's why I'll be flying. Didn't even consider his ability. Won't be using it much. I wouldn't consider it a good strategy to put the asteroids between you and the enemy in that ship.

Give me a turret and it's in my best interest to not let the enemy get guns on me ever. Why would I want to put asteroids in the way and give them more green dice?

a-To slow them down so they can't get into your range 1 and avoid being shot.

b-To give yourself a better defense against their concentrated fire.

c- Because you shoot at 4 dice so odds are you'll shoot with more dice than their defense anyway.

d- All of the above

Because you're a gigantic half disc shaped target that they will be chasing. So go all Empire Strikes back on them. Your odds are a whole lot better than Hans.

Now that you say it, man this ability would have been perfect for Han!

Well we proxied this thing today using the 1300 dial but without hard 1 turns and without escorts, he single handedly destroyed Wedge,a B-wing,an Rookie and a Y-wing with 1 HP remaining. This was the first time i have ever thought that a ship is op but it is. Dash with HLC turret,Engine,PTL and Kyle is just sick.

I've seen people do the same with Soontir Fel. That doesn't make him broken. Just good. I find it hard to credit this victory without extreme luck, those numbers just don't add up to a well played game.
