With the wave 5 announcement, and with wave 4 here, 100 points seems insufficient. Maybe up the game level from 100 to 150?
Also is an epic tournament on the horrizon?

I concur with this statement.
when you play for fun you can do what you want, for tournaments with a time limit keeping the points lower is probably better.
NO NO NO
The Falcon works just fine in a 100 point list.
If you want play 150 point Escalation or 300 point Epic games good for you. Let's leave the base game alone.
Whatdoyasay...
Edit: Added a paragraph break and the word game.

unless there is some other kind of rule that limits the total number of ships to 8 or fewer like a standard 100 point game and encourages spending points on upgrades and unique pilots.
The number of ships on the table (and the required size of that table, and the time it takes to move those ships) in a 100 point game is already at the upper limit in my opinion. It's one thing to set aside time and space to run epic games as desired, but I would not be in favor of enlarging the "standard" game size
100 pts is still fine.
I personally don't see anything "Official" going above 125pts except for Escalation/Epic play. One of the perks of this game is that the relatively small games keeps some of the more obscene lists in check do you really wanna see swarms with 8 Tie(inc Howl)+ 3 Bombers? or 8 Z-95s loaded with assault missiles? 4 Firespray lists? 8 Tie Swarms + a loaded Defender/Phantom? 3 Named Falcons? Some of these lists may not be terrible ones to face but once you get to 150 you can fit some ridiculous stuff in, that may be fun once in a while but I wouldn't want it becoming the "norm"

In the escalation rules (which cap at 150) i think the 8 ship rule applies but that is only 1 game from a 4 game format that you play that high

There IS an increased-format tournament style available. Epic. Epic tournaments are now supported by FFG 1-on-1 and Teams, and the first official Epic Team matches will see their debut at GenCon for Nationals. But, as was said further up, the Falcon works fine in 100 point lists. The standard 100 point dogfight is here to stay, and will continue to be the primary play space with no point increase. The higher-point formats are available in Epic and Escalation.
In the standard X-Wing game tournaments, 100 points is fine.
I however do not play in tournaments.
As the waves continue the price of the ships increases so they will have to increase the points. We are now sein 46 point ships.

The 100-point format survived the YT-1300 just fine; why would it be raised on the Decimator's account?
Just saying the norm does not have to remain the norm...

No, you said that as more ships were published they'd have to increase the point limit. And there's no reason to suspect that's true.
He have had 46 pt ships since wave 2. Neither the Decimator nor the YT-2400 indicate a tendency for higher point ships. Heck, the Rebels got a 12 pt ship last wave. If you want to play different with different build totals, that's fine. It doesn't change that these ships are balanced for a 100pt build.
Just means empire has to start making the same decisions rebel players have already had to make with regards to taking less ships into battle. If you make it 125 or 150 to allow for more larger ships you would just end up with 9 - 11 Ties at the same time which takes a lot longer to set up move and shoot within a certain time frame.
Personally though I wouldn't mind a points split... 20pts for upgrades only on top of how we have 100 pts already. So many naked squad builds out there cause the upgrades aren't worth as much as they are valued at.
I think the 100 point tournament is fine. I like fryn's idea of adding points exclusively for upgrade cards, although casual games don't need it. Our standard has been 150-250 on a 6x4 table. Does it help if I ever plan to play in a tournament? no. But it's super fun.
I like the idea of a points split in order to encourage more upgrades.
But I think the 100 point limit is fine. The first thing I looked for when the Decimator was revealed was the point cost of its highest PS pilot, and it seemed entirely reasonable within the current tournament format.
Absolutely DO NOT up the points. The game is balanced for 100. Tourneys play fast at 100. Do what you want at home, but don't mess with 100 point level as the default.
I think 100 points will start to look too shallow as the game progresses

Why, what do you mean by "shallow", and too shallow for what?
