and I need some stats. Should I just steal the stats from a tie-fighter or interceptor?

Start with the TIE/LN Starfighter at http://swrpg.viluppo.net/transportation/starships/431/ and reduce the Speed from 5 to 4, and increase the handling from +3 to +4 (or maybe +5).

Based on the description at the link you posted, I would think that would pretty much cover it.

Of course, the cost/value of this thing would also need "modification", too.

Yeah, going with my gut, I'd probably make it a TIE/IN with a hyperdrive and defense rating (maybe 2 total?).
