Bring Out the Big Guns! Wave 5 announcement

By dvorm, in X-Wing

The only thing that the Falcon has that the Decimator doesn't is 1 agility die, and the ability to get Evade tokens.

The Decimator has the Falcon completely outclassed as far as HP and Upgrades go.

The Lvl 8 pilot costs the exact same as Han Solo, by the bye.

The Falcon will most likely have a better dial between the two.

Falcon's Dial is very close to the average.

Decimator's Dial would have to be Y-Wing bad or lower for your statement to be true.

Koiogran wouldn't be needed, as the only secondary weapon is a Torpedo and the Primary ignores its firing arc.

It's the Turning that makes the difference here.

Dash: Screw your asteroids.

They way I read it, his ability only matters for movement. It specifies activation phase. If he is on a rock, I'm guessing he still can't shoot, though he would suffer no other penalty.

It's Activation phase OR performing actions. So he could do his maneuver, land on an asteroid, then still barrel roll off of it so he could shoot.

16 HP just begs for Vader crew.

Hell, 16 HP with 0 Agility puts it's durability between a YT and a Firespray by my math.

Yeah, I imagine the Decimator moves similar to the shuttle.

Airen Cracken has a new best friend :D

So pumped! The outrider is gonna be so expensive to field though!

Any reason I couldn't expose on the Deci?

The YT-2400's code is SWX23 and the VT-49 Decimator is SWX24. That means we still don't know what SWX25 through 28 are (Rebel aces is SWX29).

Well, unfortunately, "In the game’s fifth wave, two large starships arrive ready for the heat of battle: the Rebellion’s YT-2400 and the Imperial’s VT-49 Decimator." so this is Wave 5. Maybe those are reserved for Wave 6?

While it probably means that these two are the sum total of Wave 5, it doesn't actually say that technically, I don't think.

Still do not think these reaction images are enough to express my excitement!

Is the Outrider's based more rectangular or is it me?

Yeah, I imagine the Decimator moves similar to the shuttle.

If the Shuttle could take Expert Handling and Barrel Roll.

Havn't read another post yet... but whoa...

And what's up with the MASSIVE scheduled releases this year? I know the Imperial Aces debacle was an anomaly but this is getting crazy...~$450 worth of ships just to get 1 of everything that has come out Imperial Aces to Wave 5/Rebel Aces?

Any reason I couldn't expose on the Deci?

That card can finally be awesome!

Seems like it. Hopefully it's just a Jedi mind trick.

I love the look of these and their upgrades.

I dont get the Outrider card as much as some of you seem to though. Most cannons are limited in range in some way. So if I was goign against the Outrider and they had taken autoblaster or HLC, I'd just get in close real fast and stay at range 1 as much as possible, or keep way away and flank it all the time at range 3.

The rest are awesome. I cant wait to do Phantom lists with Mara Jade, Fleet Officers and Tacticians. Cant wait to see what Isaard's rules are too.

And to put the new Rebels in the B-Wing with crew upgrade.

Also, is that a new sensors card in the Imp set? Looks like it says Tactical Jammer or Target Jammer.

Just a question.. Aren't missiles and Torpedoes considered to be secondary weapons??

Chardaan Refit is not.

All others start with the header "Attack:". That makes them secondary weapons.

So... that means that torpedoes and missiles ARE? I don't care about Chardaan.. But if the Missiles ARE considered secondary weapons, then the Outrider means that missiles and Torpedoes can be used in a 360 arc. And once discarded, guess what? You still have your main gun to fall back on.. Am I wrong in this assumption??

The outrider title only effects cannons.

Also notably no TLs or number chits.

With Fleet Officer out, Lt Lorrir and Kir Kanos just got upgraded in efficiency!

A OGP + Advanced Sensor + Fleet Officer will be a very good commanding ship for 27pts!

... but the Decimator made have to work hard to sell itself for me, 'cause around 40 points mark for a large ship with no evade dice despite 3 crew, cannon and system -as it appears- (well, I will pre-order one for the cards; but table presence-wise it might just end like the Firespray)

Just like the Firespray? You mean completely awesome?

2 TIE Bombers are awesome - the Firespray ... never really "clicked" for my playstyle; also it is not an Imperial Ship

ps. I may have misread the upgrade bar: it's (Elite), Torpedo, 3x Crew and Bomb ...

It's called fixing the supply chain. Now that they have hopefully fixed the issues (and will likely avoid close holiday releases), they can ramp up their output. Honestly, a couple waves a year (especially with the new 2 wave option) with side products like the Epics and Aces, is good for the game.

Sorry folks. Even though you've removed the on-paper penalty for Exposing yourself (heh), it still adds less expected damage as a single action than a Focus.

Fleet Officer support Lambdas. Hmmm . . .

I just noticed that the debris art is custom. Outrider has Imperial debris, Imps get destroyed Rebel ships. I wonder if the tokens are actually double-sided like the range ruler?

It's the little things like that which I love most about FFG's design work.

I'd say the Rebel Only crew imbalance has been somewhat redressed.

Is that an EPT on the VT-49? Looks like I can barrel roll it...

Interesting catch. I bet they think we've got more than enough of those already (and they're right!)

We really didn't need to go any further down the "double alphabet road" for target locks (Rebel Aces is going to include "AA/BB" and "CC/DD")...and as for ID tokens, we have 43 of them already (through Rebel Aces).
