Bring Out the Big Guns! Wave 5 announcement

By dvorm, in X-Wing

text from the top imperial pilot: "When attacking at Range 1-2, you may change one of your (focus) results to a (crit) result." Awesome pilot ability!

Luke Skywalker defected? Mara Jade's working her magic already, eh?

Also, Fleet Officer on a ship with Advanced Sensors, anyone?"

I love the difference between Lando's and Han's crew abilities. Han takes the gamble out of your Target Lock, and Lando puts the gamble Into the Focus.

Remember who won the Millennium Falcon from whom in a game of Sabaac?

Alright, so the breakdown of Lando's odds are:

4/64 :|: gaining 2 Focus tokens

9/64 :|: gaining 0 Tokens

9/64 :|: gaining 2 Evade tokens

12/64 :|: gaining 1 Focus token

12/64 :|: gaining 1 Focus token and 1 Evade token

18/64 :|: gaining 1 Evade token

So, appx 14% of the time, you have wasted your action, appx 39% of the time you have gained 2 tokens, and appx 47% of the time you have gained a Focus or Evade token without having performed a Focus or Evade action.

Moreover, appx 60% of the time you will have received at least 1 Evade token, and appx 44% of the time you will have received at least 1 Focus token.

It also looks like Lando and Han's crew cards are two sides of one image.

For a "feared" mini-capital ship, the VT seems a little undergunned. But with three crew maybe it is envisioned as a sort of Imperial AWACS, a force multiplier for mini-swarms.

So right now on their product page they have the YT-2400 priced at $30, but the Decimator is priced at $40. I wondering why it's more expensive then the other large ships.

Oh, yeah, you're right. That's weird. I wonder why they'd deviate from their usual pricing in intervals of $15...

Well a couple of people have already pointed out that they said it is to be the biggest 1/270 scale ship.

That's true. Must be why. The OCD in me wishes it cost $45 instead of $40, heh.

I just.... I JUST... figured out a way to store my large ships. : /

Yes, those same images have been used in the LCG.

Am I the only one happy there is only two ships this wave?

My wallet has already taken a real beating this year between Imperial Aces, Transport, Blockade Runner, Wave 4 and Rebel Aces. :(

I agree. Need time to replenish funds!

It also looks like Lando and Han's crew cards are two sides of one image.

They are. The art was made for the card game originally, but the image is them playing for the Falcon

This game is crack, pure plastic crack,

Take my money and my kidney poppa needs 4 more ships.

Very, very cool ships coming out.

I for one would be fine with only 2 ships. My bank account could use the break, spending $50-70 instead of $150-180 would be fine by me, especially since I'm going to pick up 2 boxes of Rebel Aces.

I'm very happy they managed to make the YT-2400 something other then a 'Aces' type reprint. It's a truly different ship then the YT-1300. Also love the crew cards with it that I can see.

The VT-49 is a truly impressive looking model and will bring a lot of new options to the Imps I think. Love Mara and the Fleet Officer for what they bring to that ship as well as all other Imp ships. Plus now the Imps get some more Imp only crew which is nice.

As for the cost. Well that makes sense, according to Wookieepedia, the VT-49 is 4 meters longer then the YT-1300, at 1/270 that means it should be a bit more then half an inch longer. So $10 more makes sense.

Just a question.. Aren't missiles and Torpedoes considered to be secondary weapons??

Chardaan Refit is not.

All others start with the header "Attack:". That makes them secondary weapons.

So... that means that torpedoes and missiles ARE? I don't care about Chardaan.. But if the Missiles ARE considered secondary weapons, then the Outrider means that missiles and Torpedoes can be used in a 360 arc. And once discarded, guess what? You still have your main gun to fall back on.. Am I wrong in this assumption??

Nah, but they ARE playing that game of Sabaac that I mentioned!

They're both holding holo-cards, with the Falcon title on the table, Han looks cocky, and Lando looks shocked.

If I remember correctly, there are around 36 cards in a damage deck.

So killing a Decimator will blow through about a third of the damage cards. Wow.

Not that it will make much of a difference, but still ... Wow.

Doomed Decimator... Lowest point Decimator with Vader. Thats a lot of hitpoints, 16 in total, for Vader to chew through!

The outrider title specifies cannons

No, the Outrider says the [Cannon] upgrades specifically.

Mara Jade on an EH Kath Scarlet . . . Or Mara Jade Tactician Ion Cannon on a shuttle.

33 IIRC

Decimator, Gunner, Vader. 48 points (or more) for the generic, but SO MANY CRITS

This idea. I like it.

Am I wrong in this assumption??

Yes, because it's limited to Cannon secondary weapons (see the icon).

I'm seeing Proton Rockets with the 2400. Have those already been released with something else or is that new?

I know this is a bit of a stretch, but does Outrider turn your secondary cannon into your primary for purposes such as, say Gunner?

That is a **** good question. Probably not, I'd have to think it would nullify Gunner.
