Trouble Brewing question- Potential Spoilers

By Enjolras40, in Game Masters

I am preparing to run Trouble Brewing from the CRB this Sunday. It is our first time as a group and I wanted to run something like this that would introduce the group to the mechanics of the game. But I could really use some clarification.

When pursuing Bandin Dobah to the asteroid, I kind of get confused. First, are there various entrances to the asteroid and should I be giving a map for them to choose, so that they could theoretically enter near Dobah's ship? Looking at the sort-of-map in the book, that is kind of what it looks like.

But my bigger question revolves around atmosphere. The story has the players flying their ship through the asteroid and trying to avoid getting corrosive goo on the ship. At one point they find the missing BH's ship. There are some things they can find should they search the ship, but how do they search it? Have the entrances to the asteroid been sealed off and it is pressurized? Or do they need to be in space suits- which is something that they almost certainly won't have purchased in advance for a starting mission.

Likewise, they have to deal with Mynocks if they enter that cave, and it says that they have to be dealt with using blasters or helium grenades. So, again, are they just leaving the ship and there is atmosphere, or do they need to wear something?

Then, when they finally get to Bandin Dobah, same issue. I understand it mentions a "pressure curtain" around his ship. But the players still need to get to his ship from theirs.

Any thoughts or clarification would be appreciated, even if it is how you "house ruled" this scenario to deal with these issues.

1. I opted not to give my players the tunnel map; I gave them different entrance options narratively, describing their positions relative to one another.

2. There's no indication that the tunnels (except for Dobah's cavern) have atmosphere, so space suits are probably required. RE: the corrosive goo, I ruled that it did not affect the material of the spacesuits the way that it does the ship's metal hull after short-term exposure.

3. The area within the 'pressure curtain' is large enough that the PCs' ship can enter it and then either a) disembark into atmosphere or b) dock directly with Dobah's ship. The most viable option there probably depends on how much stealth/deception they've proceeded with so far (my players destroyed the pressure curtain.....)

Thanks. :)
