Rebel Answer to Firesprays

By Kenix, in X-Wing

The problem with the HLC BBXX list is that it's all PS 2 and shoots after the PS 3+ Firesprays. You'll very frequently have situations where your damaged ship and a damaged Firespray are in arc of each other, but the Firespray kills your ship before it can fire. At PS 4+ you reverse the situation and start finishing of damaged Firesprays before they can shoot, which makes a huge difference in how much damage you're taking.

XXBB w/ HLC is amazing, despite being PS2. If it's not viable against Firesprays, what is it viable against?

Just so we're clear, that was a rhetorical question.

Also regular firespray with 4 academy and howlrunner for a 6 ship build is quite fun. Its what I use at the moment

Oh, are you over the Interceptors already?

Cost too much to get 6 ships in there. If I was just doing 5 ships id run interceptors

Well, let's see how your mini-swarm fares against XXBB tomorrow, shall we?

Depends on what time you get there. I got magic at 7, so would have to be wrapped up by 630

Yeah, I'll be there around noon.

You getting anything together or early stages of planning for the end of the month escalation event?

I've only thought about it briefly. Probably start with either a YT or a mini-swarm and go from there, nothing particularly original. Should be interesting though, haven't done any escalation yet. I'm sure we'll be practicing a weekend or two beforehand.

Well it is in 2 weeks, so practice time needs to start for you soon then. ;)

I would say B-Wings are a nice counter to Firesprays. In this case i would also opt for Daggers for PS purposes, in other cases (if it's named Firesprays and you don't have initiative anyway) Blue squadrons also do the job. Especially since 4 with advanced sensors are exactly 100 points.

3 of those plus biggs could also be pretty nice. You have more firepower, durability is pretty much identical if it's 3 bounty hunters. So it comes down to maneuvering and actions where advanced Sensors give you an edge. Same would go for FCS but that makes you more vulnerable to blocking and stuff like that.

Last but not least you could take a Falcon plus 2 ships. Generally Chewie would be great. Tanks it up well and shoots before bounty hunters.

What i have played lately was Tarn Mison w. R7, Bluewing with Sensors, Chewie with C3PO, and either Gunner or Falcon title plus Push the Limit. Very nice list. You are not competing for initiative, but it's definitely tanky and also dishes it out very well. I could see it work versus triple BH. You will lose a ship before him perhaps but when you get to the infight, Chewie and the B-Wing can dodge arcs efficiently and Mison with R7 is a Tank if not more than one enemy targets him at once.

Ahh, Blue Thunder. That takes me back...

Hell, anything with Fire Control Systems loves seeing a list of large ships.
