Another Navigator thread.

By Krynn007, in X-Wing

I've never used him, but want to give it a shot.

Been playing around with some builds that include the Phantom and the Firespray. My goal is to come up with something that is competitive.

On paper this sounds like it would work, but I have yet to try it.

Echo

Veteran Instincts

Advanced cloak

Boba fett

Expert handling

Navigator

Seismic charge

Dark curse

Stealth device.

That gives two high mobile ships. One that hits like a truck.

The other that can really move. Both are highly mobile, have fire power, and with the seismic charge really throw off the opponents formation

Then dark curse is there with a stealth device

He probably would get ignored, but if not he is hard to hit, and defensive.

What ya think?

Would this be competitive?

Problem is its only 3 ships. I really don't know if it will last long until I try it, but don't hurt to see what some opinions are.

Can always go back to brain storming

Edit: **** auto correct changed my thread title lol suppose to be Fettigator not navigator. Wish I could edit the title

It has been shown that navigator on fett hardly pays off. Given the large base, rarely will his ability, let alone navigator proc after the first engagement. You are better off with an engine upgrade instead of nav/eh. Engine upgrade gives you the extra distance of EH and I personally see it have more use in games and actually make a difference. Stressing your firespray can be very dangerous in the heat of battle, especially with all of the new stress abilities.

Have you considered Outmaneuver on the Fettigator? Intensity intensifies!

Don't let the nay-sayers keep you down, navigator is a great upgrade for it's price. I think people expect it to work wonders, and that it's good to use every turn, but that's not the case. You might only use it a couple times a game, but it's only 3 points. Those couple of times can prevent you from getting blocked, be at a certain range for a missile/torpedo, get out of arc of 3 interceptors and not get blown to pieces, etc.

But Engine Upgrade doesn't let you stall/move backwards like EH does.

and EH doesn't let you change your angle like EU does.

Therefore the answer must be both.

Why don't you move Navigator to Echo, where it belongs. :)

Just... trust me on this. GIve it a try. :)

Sheep General's Warning: You may get a headache trying to figure out how to move Echo.

You may not get to use it every round, but it's there as insurance.

Since he moves last I figured one your see where your opponent ends up, that having the choice to change your direction could be convenient. Getting out of 2 or 3 ships firing arch a round could be worth the points alone for it.

I may give it a try tomorrow night.

Tonight is epic night!!

I've been running a list lately with Navigator and VI on Chewbacca. OMGROFLSTOMP is it good. So many times people have set up to get range one shots on me, only for me to jump over them and engage them in the rear at range one. Or I change my distance so that they have most of their guys out of range, or I'm behind an asteroid to their shots.

Expert Handling = 2 points

Engine Upgrade = 4 points

Sure, I'd rather have BOOST that be able to take a TL shaking Barrel Roll that causes Stress but at twice the cost? That is where a possible issue for Fettigator is.

Sable may be saying you could move Navigator to Echo. My response to that is you could also get those points from the Stealth Device on Dark Curse. Drops his cost from 19 back to 16 but doesn't make him too much harder hit; for the pathetic points it may even make him less of a target.

So, Echogator and Fettigator walk into a bar.

And don't.
