Battlefleet Koronus - Ground Warefare Multiple Units in Contact

By Levo5656, in Rogue Trader Rules Questions

Hey

In RAW it states that "A unit attacks and is attacked by all units it is in contact with during a strategic round" however thats about as far as it goes talking about what happens when more than 2 units meet on the battlefield, does this happen outside of turn order? can they deal damage to multiple units at once rather than just one, and if so this would mean in a 3v3 unit match all within 1 KM of each other that each unit will essentially be getting hit 6 times in a turn if all units make an attack action while "in contact".

I am also having great trouble getting to grips with the "in contact" part too, does this mean they just attack each other once on a strategic turn and that's it?

Sorry if I am rambling I am just really struggling, cheers.

Firstly welcome on this boards.

The best way to not struggle with Battlefleet Koronus ground warfare rules is to throw them away as far as you can and use some rules you can find posted on this forum or you home-brew or even just improvise as it goes. BK ground warfare is a waste of time, sadly.

Thanks for the advice mate

Would anyone be able to recommend any homeebrew rulesets I could use

I really liked the system provided in Frozen Reaches. It requires a bit or work on part of the GM and is very situational, but my players enjoyed it immensely.

U can try to use system in Deathwatch - Rites of Battle (i think, or maybe Mark of Xenos?) . But it is too, far from perfect.

You can use straightforward horde rules from Deathwatch, but that be unbalanced, because hordes evaporate pretty quickly, and they are very abstract.

You can use squad rules from Only War, and they are good, but are only good for small skirmishes - like 3-4 squads, plus some tanks per side.

I've heard the system in Tome of Blood for Black Crusade is much, much better, but I have no personal experience with it.

I used BK's mass combat rules and they worked quite well... But I used it inside an immense hulk that I split into "areas". So for a unit to be in contact with another, they would've to be in the same area as that other unit (range was not taken into consideration).
