A dogfight soundtrack?
A dogfight soundtrack?
This is a fun thread
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MMu6xK-ado
Most of the score to Yamato 2199 is on youtube minus the sound fx. But i love this battle so much i had to post it complete
And in another zone entirely im not sure if the Rebellion has any pilots hardcore enough for this track but i found it inspiational for a WW1 fighter game
And for the upcoming epic games some english classic:
This dates back to playing X-wing on PC all those winters ago.
Silverchair - Pure Massacre
Ties entering at 7km. Perfect! Hit play on CD player. The music builds, as does the anticipation. By the time the heavier music kicks in, you're on them, the dogfight is initiated, stuff gets blown up! Great tune (or if you're Aussie like Silverchair .. great 'chune').
While we are on the topic of Queen.
This is definitely on Vader's Ipod play list while flying.
I find this more appropriate for beating zombies with pool cues than I do dog fighting, but to each their own.
I swear I tried to embed this before, and it wouldn't work.. but this is the best version of 'Danger Zone' ever..

Agreed. It seems to me that Queen + dogfighting only has one answer:
So I have to ask, seeing as this thread totally brought the question to mind.
Is listening to the Star Wars soundtrack too over-the-top when playing? Or just been done to death?
Most games I've played have only had the sound of other X-Wing games or Magic games going on in the background.
I think it's the latter ("done to death"). Not that the sound tracks are no longer appreciated, just sometimes you have to throw in some Rick Astley every so often to spice things up. (yes, Rick Astley.)
Rick Astley? That would be like spicing things up with a side of soggy lettuce... :-)
And yet Kimchee is still a thing
Yes, I'm going to be "that guy." Kimchee is typically cabbage, not lettuce.

I think you're missing basically the entire Battlestar Galactica Soundtrack....
Nope, just couldnt find the original without a bit of work. Then i found the original rearranged by John Williams which rocks
And just because no thread is complete without some absurdity
Somebody who knows how to do such things should turn this vid into an Imperial air show with fighters etc flying overhead
A dogfight soundtrack?
Yes!

Yuuppp this made my night

Oldies but when I joust with my B-Wings I have these on loop in my head
Edited by TheycamefromBEHINDUnfortunately someone seems to have put in copyright claims on all of the English dubs for the series (the douchebags), including even the trailer! But here's one of the dogfights from Macross Plus in the original Japanese (which is a pity because there are some awesome quips in there).
Edit: I found one of their fights in English!
Nobody's mentioned this one yet:
In fact you could use many of the soundtracks from war movies of the 60's and 70's for a dogfighting soundtrack.....like 633 Squadron for example:
Usually play this full blast on my way to play at store or buddies house.
The Ecstasy of Gold

This is brilliant, well done sir
Hard to go wrong with Morricone
But Zimmer seems to have been neglected so far...
Bring in the Imperial Decimator
Edited by DagonetI don't know if this has been said yet but I use the soundtrack from the X-wing vs. TIE Fighter PC games. If you load them in, even on a system that can't run the game, the tracks show up on iTunes automatically because it's the only thing that can still be read. THAT is the best soundtrack for this game.
The Hymn for red october just gets me all worked up. We used it a lot for our Yamato game when we were not using Yamato music of course
But ok. The best thing about the movie was the score. The rest of it was Nu BSG with the Yamato instead of the Galactica
I always thought High Roller by the crystal method was great for any military background music, and the whole Vegas album is good to just leave playing
