What do you do with extras?

By SnowcatAssassin, in X-Wing

I'm curious what other people do with the bits you get when you get multiples of the same ships. There's no need to have 3 of the same named pilot and 3 rule cards for the Ion token. Having extras of the same target lock token is unnecessary. Do other people just through their extra cards and bits away or is there a reason I'm not seeing to hold onto things?

I have a core set box with this sort of stuff in mind. If you put them in acid free zip lock baggies you will always have them as back up gear.

Just toss them into a box and stash it somewhere, That way if you loose or damage/destroy your copy of Biggs or Han or whatever you can still dig another one out.

It's probably safe to throw away certain extras, but I'm just putting them into baggies (I seem to have plenty of baggies) and storing them for now.

I put multiple copies of 'rules' cards in sleeves and put it in my pilot card box. I am a fairly new player myself and have exposed other friends and family to this game so being able to hand out some of those cards is nice.

Extra pilots and locks and such goes into a big ziplock bag.

What I am debating now is if I really need as many focus, evade, and shield tokens that I carry with me.

My spare uniques and third damage deck are stashed in my third core box with the templates and tokens still on the cardboard. the extra rule cards like ion and bombs are situated on two separate 9 sheet card pages so either player can see how those things work on the fly. I keep the extra big ship booklets in their respective boxes. I should carry my third damage deck, then I would definitely have enough to run to simultaneous games, one just shares the deck.

I also keep two of each target lock, a/b, c/d, etc.

Inspect all of the PIlot bases for variations in the Firing Arc.

I have a Left-Handed Howlrunner, a Centralized-Howlrunner, and a Howlrunner that lists daintily to the right.

Printer Inconsistency can rule in your favor.

I have a binder for my pilots, and it contains two of each, just in case I need it to support other folks. I keep 4 of each rule reminder card, just to make sure anyone can have a copy of them in a team epic game. The rest I either trade off, or hold on to to replace in case of disaster.

Aaaaand now I'm going to spend the night with a microscope, and ruler, and all my pilot bases. Thanks Dracon. :P
