Anything that would make the Advance more viable a fighter is aces in my book.

Problem is, without the missile slot, **** thing's still overpriced at 19.
Only thing it's got going for it is survivability. The Defender and E-Wing strip that away, and have better dials and upgradability to boot.
What it lacks is the mobility to be a proper flanker, the damage to be a proper fighter, and the cost to be effective with its current stats.
Quite often, folks suggest that it should take a Free Fire-Control System.
I wonder about the point-cost to making an Advanced-only modification that makes Missiles non-discardable.
How about they make an advanced only mod that changes the missile slot to increase primary weapon by one for 3 points.
That or they could mod it to increase hull or shield value for the missile slot.
Another possibility would be modifying it to increase barrel roll range to two. That would give it mobility to stay out of arcs even better than the interceptor, or adding boost or bombs.

I think it is better if that remains an A-wing only thing - just as the Interceptor is the only ship to have two modifications. Makes the ships feel different. I would hate to see this beautiful game turn into a "every ship can do everything".
Just imagine: in a few years the Shuttle can take a Koiogran-turn mod and gets a free evade when it cloaks
Blue TIE Fighters? I'd much rather see a gamma squadron TIE bomber.
I'd still like it if the bomber gets an upgrade that lets it use its target lock to reroll dice when firing ordnance. Ordnance that can hit swiftly and reliably would make the bomber stand out in a way virtually unique and help make it a real missile ship that people find worth investing in ordnance for.
I agree, the bomber should be in the next imp aces. Hopefully with a unique pilot who isnt swarm support or insanely overpriced.
I'd be all for one each of Advanced and Bomber in Imperial Aces 2.

Increasing the attack value to 3 makes it 3/3/3/2, which is a little too close to the Defender. Adding hull or shields doesn't really fix anything because it's already spectacularly efficient on defense, and that doesn't get it on the table. Increasing the range of its barrel roll or adding boost is interesting, but arc-dodging isn't really its thing and (for its cost) it can already take a hit better than most ships. Adding a bomb slot does fix the offense problem, sort of, but now my overpriced 21-point fighter is an overpriced 23-point fighter and it still has terrible offense once the ordnance is gone.
Solutions you didn't mention: a straight price cut won't really work because it still doesn't fix the offense problem--as someone said, it's still overpriced at 19, but it's +1 PS, +1 shield, and a missile slot better than the 15-point A-wing + Refit, so there's a limit to how cheap you can make the Advanced.
I'm afraid the solution is going to have to be more imaginative than most of the proposals I've seen.

I think the best solution would be to give it access to the Sensor Slot upgrades at a reduced cost, like -2 or -3 points. A free FCS or Advanced Sensors would go a long way to making the TIE Advanced vicious.
I also think adding some TIE Advanced only upgrades would be quite interesting. Not a price reduction like they did for the A-Wing, but something that adds something to the TIEA, like maybe something that converts hits to crits automatically.
And we need more unique pilots.
It's be nice if there was a generic pilot for the Advanced with an EPT too.

I got to use the advanced the other day for only the second time and i was really put off by how bad it was, i expected a dial much like the Squint and i was wrong, i couldn't believe it didn't have 1 turns .and it has few greens.

The best fix to the advanced is to give it a title that adds something free or reduces the cost. Even then, it'll be a tough sell for most. It's a 2 attack ship. It costs a lot. And for all kt's bad stats increasing any of them puts it in another ships wheelhouse. Unless they increase its stats and add something new it'll trump the Defender. It still might. The best bet is to add a cannon slot. 28 points for a PS2 4/3/3/2 ship is actually good. But then you'll never ever see defender with a Cannon because the Advanced is better in every way.
It's a hard sell.

Ehh, I'd rather not see the Imperials get droid slots. Much as I may gripe about the Rebels having more unique upgrades compared to the Imperials, giving the Imperials the droid slot would be a terrible solution in my opinion.

I agree with this thought. Point wise I would take a Phantom over an Advance or a Defender over Vader any day of the week.

The ship doesn't have the spastic maneuvering capabilities like the Interceptors. You take Vader, and what, you'll be able to roll and recharge a shield point? Doesn't sound too overpowered to me.
Unique cheap titles x1-x7.

I would like to see bomber paired with advanced since I doubt we'll get a firespray update
