Is there any way to get the french version of the TIE fighter expansion in the US at a price that isn't pornographically high?

Its a supply and demand problem. Even in Montreal, Canada. French books are more expensive than English books. French versions of games are more expensive than English ones. When I started playing I could not find any Ywings or TIE Advanced (I started just after Wave 2.) I had to restrain myself from buying French versions which were everywhere. The regular price for English fighters was 15 bucks in Montreal, and 20 for the French packs. For large ships it was 30 compared to 40 respectively.
Just buy them in English and save yourself the money. And you can practice your English.

sp00n: Why do you want the French version? I can see it on amazon.fr, but that might be not great come shipping costs. Perhaps see if you can get one from Quebec?

As much as I am a fan of Jeffrey Chaucer, I don't quite follow how a Middle English version of the Medieval classic satisfies the OP's request for XWM rules in Modern French (I assume he wants Modern French). You might just as well (and just as appropriately) quoted him something in Hebrew from the Talmud or a snip-it of Egil's Saga in its original Icelandic.
That said... Spoon, can I interest you in a used copy in Flemish?

No, I don't think there are Dutch rules of any kind.

I had to memorize and recite this in one of my college courses. 15 years later, I still remember every word.

I come from Luxembourg (Europe!) it's between France, Belgium and Germany. We speak both languages plus our own (and as you can see some also try themselves in english), so in my local store they sell a mix between english and french stuff.
When i started playing i bought quantities of wave 1 ships in french, as i also wanted to play with my wife, she is not so fluent in english.
But then came wave 2 and no french stuff was ever seen in out store again... So now i have a mix of everything.
I have 8 Chasseurs Tie, 4 out of 2 starters and 4 out of blisters. I would say i exchange my cards and dials with you but depending on where you live i would not risk it mailing it and it also might take too long. Besides that dials are probably a bit worn off, me having played swarms for a while.
But i know they still have some Wave 1 ships im my store, and if not there they will have some in their shop in Metz (France).
I could give you their e-mail if you wish and are prepared to pay shipping...
Half the group we play with is English, the other half French. So we mix languages back and forth. Most play with English cards because they make sense economically (and often in other games, the translation... ca fait dur.)
It's completely unhelpful but the stock photo on amazon for the tie expansion shows the French version. They deliver the English one though.
