Has someone dicovered a good solution to the gaps or unlevel playing surface that happens when two or more tables are pushed together to form a game table?

We try to get the tables at our FLGS to line up but it doesn't always work.

Put something under the legs?

Try using tape over the gaps?

DIY store and 4x4 foot boards!

That's what our FLGS does adn it works a treat. You need 4x4 to fit the gaming mats on!

Low cost go to a building supply store. Get one or more sheets of plywood and have the cut in half for you. That gives you 2 boards per sheet. Spray black and the paint a quick boarder to give you your 3x3 and some space outside to put the off the board stuff. I have also made hinged gaming boards before. Easier to transport but a bit more expensive and time consuming to make

A $3 4'x3' trifold poster board from Walmart does wonders, is lighter and stores smaller than most other options too.

Cut a sheet of MDF in half.

Our FLGS has 6'x4' tables. Problem solved.

Improvise, adapt and overcome! Try to find tables that most closely match. Find something else to cover the table with before you put down your play mat or whatever you use. Find something else to slide under your play mat to smooth the transition- most gaming stores have plenty of posters and such laying around.

I think the newer mats from HCD are thick enough that they would hardly be affected by smaller table gaps. The easiest is to just use a 6 inch by 4 foot strip of cardboard over the gap, which I imagine would make for smoother flying on certain mats. Another solution is maybe some wide tape.

Or you know, convince your FLGS to BUY WHOLE NEW 4x6 TABLES!

We went one better. Our FLGS just move to a location three times larger than their old place, and they were planning on putting in four 4x6 tables for miniature games. As the epic scale calls for 3x6, and a bit of room is nice for cards and such, we talked them in to making them 4x8 tables.

And the AC actually works in this new place too.

The problem is that you're pushing the tables together. You can't force love, man.

Go to the hardware store and get some shims that are used for cabinet/countertop leveling.

I bought a bunch of 3x4 cardboard sheets at Home Depot that work great for this. We lay the sheets over the tables and put a map on top. Each sheet was about $1.50.

at the IA tourney at FFG convention Center one pair of tables had to be abandoned because they were so poorly aligned.
