Your character has his/her own TV show.

By Catachan, in Dark Heresy

I find Dark Heresy forum discussions focus allot of attention on the "game mechanics", and not enough is said about the characters people create to have the adventures in the world of Dark Heresy.

Imagine this, your character is the main character in the Dark Heresy campaign you play in. Every session you play is like another episode in the series about your character's exploits.

What would your character's show's theme music be (link to music if you can), what would you name the show, and what is the name of your character? What makes your character "main character" material, would people watch the show?

Tyberious Rex, Holst's The Planets, Mars. Imperial Psyker. Dark and brooding with a hint of menace.

While not a player, but a GM, one of the former character's in my game most definitly had a theme song:

Cerra the Witchfinder: an Imperial Psyker who, while being 80 some odd years old, had inexplicably stopped physically, mentally, and emotionally maturing at about the age of 8. This is believed to have been related to the fact that she was conceived during a visitation of Kumos and latter born from a witch aboard a black ship bound for holly Terra in an area with weakened gellar fields as an experiment by the groups Inquisitor. She was not at all right in the head.

Her theme song: 100,000,000,000,000 Prayers of Piety for the Emperor (a variation of 100 bottles of beer). This became a most infamous song as she had taken to singing it at the top of her lungs during long transit times anytime the group took a trip anywhere. She was a biomancer, her voice never wore out, and she had trained herself to sing the song as a mantra while meditating. Sanity checks would have to be made by the rest of the group around 50,000,000,000 prayers unless measures were taken to shut her the hell up or sedate themselves. She would often be left bored for several hours in rooms with prisoners to be interrogated by the groups Interrogator overseer as a form of psychological torture to help soften the heretic up.

She passed away not long ago. She will be missed... but not by the rest of the group.

Not in Dark Heresy but in traveller I once rolled a near perfect charedter in front of every one, he was a marine and had more medals than he could count including 3 equiverlents to the VC. One of the other players laugher that he was so good he should have a movie made of him, my GM's eye lite up and a galactic phemonom was born long running vid show, movies, action figures the lot. It doged my charecter all the time I played him as in the middle of a secret mission some kid would go "mum, MUM that is Colenel Hank "Ironfist" Mctravors or if we where not undercover I would have fans camped outside where I was staying. In the end I was mosy often used as a diversion or a alibi although once got a ship full of Pirate to surreneder after one of the other charecters mentioned who I was. Very hard charecter to play but was great fun :)

one of our current PCs actions inspired an adam west batman style super hero

I even wrote a script.

The Shadow Vs The Echidna People!

EXT. Dome 01 - Night cycle
It is Night cycle in Dome 01, the Imperial quarter of Medusahive, here only the most important and official Imperial business takes place. Massive Gothic towers dominate the dome, rising above these is Adept Tower, home to the Administratum, all powerful bureaucrats who control all imports and exports into the mighty Hive-city.

EXT. Adept Tower - Night cycle
A CLOAKED FIGURE climbs the sheer surface of the Tower, SEARCH LIGHTS Pan in the Background, as they cross over the CLOAKED FIGURE, he shields himself with his volumeous cloak and goes unnoticed. The CLOAKED FIGURE glances center and we see his RED BIONIC EYES, it is THE SHADOW, Imperial Assassin and Agent of the Ministorum, Terror of the unjust!
The Shadow continues to climb the tower until he reaches an Arched window, he peers inside.

INT. Adept Tower - Office of Comptroller Mort
A luxuriously decorated room, far more decadent than is appropriate for a senior Adept. COMPTROLLER MORT, a portly senior adept is seen handing a dataslate to a junior official, simultaneously he slips a wad of HIGH DENOMINATION thrones into the Junior Adept's Pocket. the Junior Adept smiles appeciateively and exits through the ornate doors to the right.
Suddenly THE SHADOW Leaps dramatically in through the window, splinters of glass shower the room and the Comptroller.

Comptroller: THE SHADOW! I should have known! You're always meddling where your not needed!

The Shadow: I am needed wherever there is heresy and injustice!

THE SHADOW draws the DAGGERS OF TRUTH, and strikes a dramatic pose.

Comptroller: Your Daggers are not match for my cyber-ninjas! Ninjas, Attack!

Half a dozen CYBER-NINJAS leap out from behind hanging tapestries, statues and from the ceiling. They strike dramatic poses, and begin to circle The Shadow, twirling their exotic weapons menencingly. THE SHADOW whips his cloak around himself and promptly disappears!

Comptroller: Oh No! The CLOAK OF SHADOWS!

Invisible, THE SHADOW quickly takes out two of the Cyber-ninjas.

Comptroller: Look! you can still see his shadow, it is his one weakness!

The Cyber-ninjas, seeing the SHADOW OF THE SHADOW, fire lasers from their eyes, wounding The Shadow and decloaking him. The Shadow, undeterred, uses his own eye-lasers to slice one of the cyber-ninjas in half.

The Shadow: You forget comptroller, your Xenos made ninjas are no match for the EYES OF BURNING PURITY, installed by the legendary Techno-Magi Kantor!

The Shadow saws another Cyber-ninja in half with the EYES OF BURNING PURITY before cutting down the remaining ninja with the DAGGERS OF TRUTH. Once done The Shadow sheaths his dagger and calmly walks over to the now clearly panicked Comptroller Mort.

The Shadow: Your wicked ways are over Comptroller, or should I say KING ECHIDNA!

The shadow grabs the top of the comptrollers head and pulls off what reveals to be a mask! Beneath the mask is the face of KING ECHIDNA, a horrifying Xenos with a mane of spines and eyes full of hate!

King Echidna: Curse you Shadow! Medusahive would have been mine if it weren't for your meddling! I'll have to take care of you myself!

King Echidna pulls off the remains of his Comptroller Disguise to reveal the full extend of his terrible Xenos form, . King Echidna attacks The Shadow with a huge unweildly chain axe, sawing through furniture and statues with each blow The Shadow deftly avoids.

King Echidna: Arrrgh! Stand still **** it!

The Shadow: I will never stand idle while the Taint of Xenos threatens Medusahive! Your plots have failed and your allies routed. We have found the Echidna homeworld and the Imperial guard is enroute to exterminate your misbegotten race! You are the last of your kind and your life end here!

King Echidna: Yeeeaaarrrggh!

King Echidna attacks The Shadow with one last mighty blow, however The Shadow catches the axe betwixt his Dagger of Truth and, teeth whirring inches from his eyes, breaks the weapon. Disarmed, King Echidna is helpless before The Shadow, who severs the terrible Xenos' head with his Daggers in a scissoring action.

The Shadow strikes a dramatic pose, hands on hips, King Echinda's Head underfoot.

The Shadow: Another threat dealt with. But I cannot rest, as Only in Death does Duty End.

The Shadow swirls his claok dramatically and Leaps out of the window.

EXT. Dome 01 - Night cycle
The Top of Adept Tower erupts in an enormous fireball, The Shadow can be seen briefly flying away on his Jetpack. The Shadow theme song builds.

Deckhardt Khaine; a.k.a. Raif Vangar -

Reclaimator Scum from the lower-depths of Hive Volg on Fenksworld, and member of the Brotherhood of Thollos. If he had a television show, it would be something of a cross between MacGuyver and Leverage; actually based in part on Christian Kane's character, Elliot Spencer. As for a theme song, I have to say there would be a few. Metallica's Welcome Home (Sanitarium), System of a Down's Aerial's, Carbon 9's Find my Way, and Killswitch Engage's When Darkness Falls and The End of Heartache; on a more classical note, O Fortuna from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana and Clint Mansell's Lux Aeterna. All fit pretty well thematicly for the character.

Note: Having actually NOT played any of the Diablo games, I have no idea how I stole the character name from it. angel.gif
