A list I'm experimenting with currently that I hope shows some promise in-game. So far I'm at the math-wing stage with it, so any advice will be helpful.
To start, a TIE/D Defender with an Ion Cannon. I wish I could do more here, but the named characters would mean a sacrifice of add-onss and its the add-ons that would make them powerful in the first place. I toyed around with a HLC on the defender but ended up stripping it down to an Ion instead and threw the extra points on an assault missile on the Advanced.
Next up we have the TIE/IN Interceptor piloted by the Baron himself with PTL. Nothing new to discuss here.
Lastly, in the TIE/Advanced X1 is the only pilot that can make use of it, Darth Vader with Predator and Assault Missiles. With a stress-free PTL he can preform 2 actions with a mini "target lock" action from Predator to hopefully make the most from his base 2 attacks with a pretty decent range 3 alpha for the initial joust.

I'm not a big fan of the missiles but it may put the fear of the empire in swarm lists which may be this lists weakness.
However the strengths are 2 very strong turtle players (Fel with focus, focus, evade and Darth with focus, evade) who can absorb quite a bit of fire at range and shrug it off and the TIE/D who won't turtle as well, but can tank it much better. Any of these ships are powerful once the joust is over and any of them can clean the board late game.
