Asteroids + Advanced Sensors

By TGO, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Sorry if this is in the FAQ or been asked hundreds of times.

If I have a B-Wing with advanced Sensors and it landed on an asteroid I obviously get no action that turn unless I used A.S. before moving. What happens if I start my turn on the asteroid? Can I use advanced sensors to take an action before revealing my dial? I am assuming I can't because you are not allowed to take actions if your template takes you through an astroid.

Thanks for the help.

AdvAnced sensors

If a ship equipped with Advanced Sensors does not have a maneuver dial assigned to it (for example, because it is ionized), it cannot use Advanced Sensors’ ability.

If a ship is overlapping an obstacle when it activates, it may use Advanced Sensors before revealing its maneuver dial.

I've used Advanced Sensors to barrel roll myself off of the asteroid, given that my template didn't touch the asteroid as I left it.

This isn't quite right.

If you overlap an obstacle as part of executing your maneuver, you lose your Perform Action step - not the ability to perform actions. So if you have something that lets you perform free actions outside that step (including Advanced Sensors), you can still use them normally.

The main contrast on this is stress, which prohibits taking actions at all.

Ok, that is good to know. Thanks for the quick answers guys (and/or gals if that is the case).
