My collection is growing. Stick or keep going?

By SDCC, in X-Wing

Only 2 weeks ago I had a few TIE Fighters.

Now all of a sudden I have 6, with 2 new Interceptors, and a Defender coming when they are released!

Quite a surge in my collection.

With that I have many options.

Any suggestions on some good lists using those guys?

Following on from that, if you were to add anything to this what would you suggest? I think a Slave 1 will have to come at some point. Another defender? More Ints to replace the TIEs?

Bombers, Advance, and Phantoms don't overly excite me. Tyderium (I'll always call it that) looks cool but I'm not sure. Might just not know about it yet.

Maybe I should just stop for a while and learn the new ships I've got before going overboard?

So many options! What do you suggest?

:)

You've already come to the dark side so embrace it and go for absolute power! (at least 1 of everything!)

;)

You know it is your destiny!

Haha. I didn't choose Imperial. My brothers love for X-Wings took that choice away from me. I'm an awesome big brother so let him go with it and made peace with the hand I was dealt.

That would be very expensive!

Wow, normally older brothers would argue case with beats!

Slave 1 is a nice ship, and worth getting if you like it. I wasn't sure on bombers either but run lists with 3 of them and loved every minute of it,

Interceptors are fun too, the interceptor expansion pack is worth it for Soontir Fel alone, use him with push the limit and watch you brothers face as you boost to get range 1, barrel roll to get out of his arc, get stressed and get a free focus! Can be the most annoying thing to fly against.

Tie Phantom and possibly a Tie Phantom, and oh yeah TIE PHANTOM!

Hahaha, you have not yet begun to go overboard!

Get one of everything. They all come with upgrades that are useful to other ships. If you really like a particular ship, get another one or two.

Probably the most useful thing you could purchase next would be the Slave I, though. It's a very competitive ship.

I would tell you to buy one of each ship and see what you like, It's about 285 retail for all ships on each side. But it totally worth it to try out everything and see what you really like.

At somepoint your going to want at least 2 of each rebel and 3 of each imp unless your playing epic then it's a bit different seeing you can field 12 smalls and 6 larges. I play imp and can tell you that 10 ties is a lot of fun against a transport and it's only 120 of 300 points.

I know each month I love getting 1 new ship at this point as I am trying for 12 of each small and 6 large :-)

Also don't forget that aces for both rebels and imps have different cards and the transport also the Corvette are a must if your playing rebels.

Hahaha, you have not yet begun to go overboard!

What's overboard?

Anyways, 1 of everything is a pretty good idea, at least to give you the options to maximize what you use most.

Loving the replies guys.

He's my twin so I'm not that much older. But still, I put his love for X-Wings before my own. Despite my adoration for Y-Wings and Hawks I won't be purchasing any Rebel ships. Completely Imperial for me.

Money is a limiting factor (as I'm sure it is for most of us), so this will be over a long time now. But I do feel I'm in a good place and have several options.

I can't see us getting into epic really either. Never say never, but we have neither the space, money or inclination at the moment. To us this is a dogfighting game!

The more I think about it the more I think Imp Aces and Slave 1 should be the next purchases. 6 TIEs, 4 INTs, a Defender and a Firespray sounds appealing. Should have a nice stash of cards from that too.

What is the general opinion of Defenders? I know they aren't out there yet, but I'm sure a lot of you have studied the options!

Last thought I was not excited about bombers until I ran 3 armed with cluster missiles with a special bomber Jonus that rerolled missile damage and a single tie Howlrunner that reroll primary damage. It yields 27 Hp and on the openning you can do 22 damage. My mind changed about bombers within the first round play testing I destroyed Han Solo before he got a second turn.

Every ship has a place every ship is worth flying once into battle, yes even the advanced.

Defenders are beast but you should not need more then 1. You can get ships from minture market.com for 9.99. Large ships for 19.99. If you want tie swarm market has core sets for 27 ish and you can sell the x-wing on ebay for about 12 so it costs about 14 for two ties, for 48 you can have your swarm which is not bad on a budget. (Also this gives you extra dice which are a plus)

Right now I get 25 a month for x-wing I try to look for sales or save up for a couple bigger ships, before you know it you will have a collection. (I have a lot of stuff because I sold Warhammer junk and worked ot so I could get my collection going)

Ps I can tell you the shuttle is nasty also and you are going to want at least 1 adv sensors.

I live in the UK, so that isn't really an option for me. MM has good prices, but adding postage means I'd just as well pick them up here.

In total we've got 2 core sets, another X, a Y, two more TIE's and two Ints.

The extra dice were a godsend! Nice to have more tokens too.

Defenders do seem rather point heavy so I had reservations about a second one. But they look so cool! Fond memories of playing TIE Fighter back in the day.

Having played one at Imdaar, I can't see a use for more than two of these max in a game, and that's if you do them with HLC and use Captain Jonus with them

It isn't so much that I am overly compelled to load up on the ships, or am attached to one side; I'm picking up ships for the upgrades.

Tritex Games ( http://www.tritex-games.co.uk ) has decent prices, postage not too bad but best to get more than 1 ship at a time

Cheers dude. Just had a look. Delivery makes them roughly equal to Amazon on a small ship, but add a few up and you save a bit.

Customer service there is very good too, bought quite a lot of ships and different bits and pieces there too.

Lots of game clubs up and down the country and tournaments too don't forget! ;)

Customer service is always a thing that needs supporting.

I went into a local model shop at the weekend with my wife and we bought the Interceptors. Nice to support a local business.

That's for sure, try to use them and Local shop too. They run tournaments and game nights and just starting up a league as well so they need to kee going so I can play more often!

I don't think there is anything like that around my way sadly. A quick Google revealed nothing.

I've got my twin, my younger brother (I think the only thing he has is a Falcon), and a mate who has a fair bit more Imperial stuff than I do. It will just have to be between us for now I think.

roughly where are you?

South coast.

We've only had a few games so far. With one game taking us 3 hours (including setup) it's not easy to find the time!
