My collection is growing. Stick or keep going?

Depends on how much you play. If you play every week, just get it all. But if you are like me, and cant get a game together but once a month...I would hold off and play what you have.

There is something to be said about getting some stick time with each ship. If you buy new stuff, you will never have time to get good with the interceptors for example.

The Defender is coming as gift from my brother, so I won't be turning that down!

I've got a trip to Disneyland Paris, a comic convention, and a few birthdays to buy for, so anything would have to wait until August regardless.

Firespray. Nuff said.

After that you should totally pick up a Lambda (okay okay, Tyderium). A lot of people don't like them, but at this point they are one of my favorites.

You at least want a Firespray and a Lambda for the cards they give, but really you'll end up using them because of their bulk (so many HPs!!!1!!) and versatility. Those two ships are the Transformers of the Empire, they have so many upgrade slots compared to anything else the Empire offers.

The biggest piece of advice I can give with them is that they do not, even remotely, fly like TIE Fighters or interceptors. They have a learning curve, but practice practice practice and you'll wipe the floor with your Rebellious brother.

The shuttle is good but only if you have the engine upgrade card from the falcon to go with it

There are lots of lists you can look at for the 2014 Regionals season, and the 2014 Store Championship season:

Edit: And don't forget a good squad builder, this is my favorite. It will also tell you what expansions each card comes in:

I'm going to echo the Firespray!

It's a really, really fun ship to fly. Planning to make sure your enemy is in the froward or rear firing arc is fun, but still challenging.

Also, the ship itself is pretty balanced.

But! Be careful stating that you are a solely Imperial player. Apparently people frown upon picking/staying with one side or another. :P

With six TIE Fighters (two from Expansions) and two Interceptors I'd say your lists are pretty much swarms or some variation on them. Throwing a Firespray into the mix would give you several more options. The Defender may, at least in some ways, act a little like a Firespray but it will require more use. Aces is actually a good product and if you only had one Interceptor I'd strongly recommend it.

If anyone has a problem with that, then let them get on with it. I'm not going to worry :)

So then, votes for Slave 1, Tyderium, and Imp Aces.

Aces is as rare as rocking horse poop in the UK, so that's out for now. Tyderium is awesome looking but doesn't interest me particularly at the moment.

So Slave 1 looks likely for me next. With adult things taking priority it won't be until August now. So I've got some time to play with the interceptors and the defender whenever that comes along.

Does anyone use Slave 1 with a Defender?

I'm going to have a look through the lists that MajorJuggler posted too. See what's going on.

Cheers!

my two cents on various sub topics: lol I don't have no problems with folks picking one side of the other, just don't complain every time the faction you DIDN'T pick gets a new fighter!! lol As for supporting your local store, i can see that to an extent. As long as its not one of those "we don't have that in stock but can order it for you stores" then charge you double the price and make YOU come down to the store to pick it up!!! however if the local store actually hosts various X-wing games etc then I might even STILL support them... however if its the typical "Magic" store.. then no.. now back on topic you need to get 6 of everything... also check out your local Barnes & noble. in my neck of the woods they ALWAYS have a better selection then the local "magic" store.. they actually had Imperial aces on the shelf.. actually they had EVERYTHING on the shelf except the CR-90... you can pick up the latest rogue squadron book as well!!

now back on topic you need to get 6 of everything

You're joking aren't you? That would be a massive amount of money, and a tonne of space. I've got gym equipment to purchase instead!

The shop I visited at the weekend is the only one in our city that stocks X-Wing stuff as far as I know. Reasonable prices (slightly above Amazon), with an OK collection. They had the Tantive IV and the Rebel Transport.

No game nights though. I don't think anyone does that around here.

I don't think we have Barnes and Noble in the UK? Not around my way at least.

I may cast an eye over rebel ships and lust after a few, but I'll never ***** about not having them. I've got my faction now and I'll make the most of it. :)

You're joking aren't you?

He is joking. Truely, all you *need* to get is a starter, plus whatever you are comfortable with. At any point, if you really don't feel comfortable getting something, don't.

It's a very cool game, but it isn't the cheapest. I'm really pleased for those you can afford plenty, such as yourself UltimateZing!

With holidays, gym, and my wife to spend my money on miniatures come around when they can. I'm sure it will all change again when we have kids! Get it all in whilst I can!

On a tangent.....Can you get carry cases? Would be nice to keep all my models together instead of packing away the core and the expansions separately each time.

I have many other things I want to spend my hard earned on, so miniatures come around when they can.

Depend son how overboard you go with buying. If you're planning a decent sized collection, I suggest getting a Plano 732 angled tackle system. They run about $35-45, but they give you enough room that you can grow with it. If you want to stay smaller end, the Plano 5231 Stow n' go is an excellent choice by the looks of it (I use it for tokens. Kinda outgrowing it)

Fishing tackle boxes! Ingenius!

Get some foam to fill out the boxes and prevent things moving around, and you're sorted. Very nice thinking there.

I'm at 8 small ships already, so I guess the bigger option. Add a Slave 1, Defender and then have space for the future.

You don't even need the foam. These models aren't as delicate as the ones you have to glue and put together from other companies.

With what you have now, you'd have plenty of room to grow into with the 5231. When I say I use it for tokens and the like, the reason is I have hundreds of various tokens that will eat up a ton of room, no matter how I choose to sort them.

Ah OK. It would be nice to have my tokens all sorted separately and the smaller box will do that.

Now I just need to find one in the UK! Amazon doesn't have any and the ebay has crazy postage.

" You're joking aren't you? That would be a massive amount of money, and a tonne of space. (Retired) i am also a member of the YMCA in town which does cost me like 55 a month but i like the variety of classes they teach.. but that's all off topic... again lol

To give you a better idea - this is one of the three trays from the 732 that I have

The Defenders are somewhat clunky, and I haven't tried one of them in the way this case lays out. But, as you can see, you can fit 3 Firespray into the long custom slot (they give you little things to do rows if you'd like). You'd have two other trays, just like this, to separate, or carry more stuff, should your collection grow that big.

Now, this is the 5231's inside
IMG_20140610_102452_152_zpse761ba49.jpg

As you can see, these compartments are pretty deep. They allow for easy ship storage, while on the top, there's more storage up there for more shallow things, like tokens.

I don't know what euro prices are like for these, but by the sound of it, the second option is probably better for you

I already work out a fair bit so it wouldn't be a waste of money. I need better equipment and a dedicated space to get the most out of the effort I'm putting in. I'd rather invest in my house and my own equipment than give a gym I have to share my money!

As I said, more power to you chaps who have plenty. But I don't think I'll ever get to that point.

UltimateZing - Thanks! Good to see how things fit. So I could go to fishing store and see what they have. As I live on the coast that shouldn't be too tricky.
