tie avenger and tractor beam for fluffy campaign

Hi all,

I'm writing rules for a fluffy campaign and want to make Marek Stele, and the TIE advanced, a bit more viable. Stele's a really cool character that I want someone to play in the campaign, but don't want him to be so rubbish that whoever plays him moans about it or loses every game.

As such, and after reading up on him on wookiepedia, I've come up with 2 ideas to make him more viable...

TIE avenger

Title. TIE advanced only (excluding X1)

ship's primary attack value is increased to 3.

cost 1

(I was really unsure how to cost this one. attack 3 seems more powerful than 1 point, but then the advanced is overcosted in the first place.

Tractor Beam

modification. TIE avenger only.

At the start of the combat phase you may spend a target lock to place a 1 straight or bank template on the side of the target locked ship that is closest to your firing arc. If the target ship can be placed at the end of the template without bumping into another ship, you may move the targeted ship to the end of the template. Do not change its facing.

Cost 6

What do you think about this? Something viable, OP?

If I remember correctly, the tractor beam that the Defender and Avenger used essentially held ships in place, forcing them to fly in the same direction to set up other weapons. If I were designing it for X-Wing, and trying to make it distinct from Ion, I'd probably have it either make all non straight maneuvers red, or add a stress to ships before they reveal their dial while effected by it.

I'm not 100% sure I'd take an advanced even with +1 attack. At 22 points, its coming in near the Phantom, which comes out more favorably to my eyes. I liked an idea someone (MajorJuggler?) came up with to give it a free FCS. If Maarek Stele had a free FCS, and Outmaneuver, he may do some work.

Simpler way to implement the tractor beam is to reduce the targets agility dice like Wedge's ability

Range 1-2. When attacking a small based ship, and at least 1 critical is rolled. The target ship may not use Evade or Focus Tokens to defend the attack.

A 3-3-3-2 ship that can focus, TL, Evade and barrel roll for 22pts and you're not sure you would take it!? Surely you don't play a lot of rebels with their stinky X-Wing with low stats like 3-2-3-2 focus and TL for 21pts, we all know how bad this ship is... or the upcoming E-Wing with 3-3-2-3 focus, TL, Evade and Barrel roll at PS1 for 27pts, talk about an overprice ship.

I think the Advanced with those stats and price would be an auto include in pretty much any build.
