Soul Calibur and Torn Hero

By babelfish666, in UFS Rules Q & A

Just a couple of questions about the way these cards interact with certain cards.

With soul calibur, it reacts in the same was as torn hero, so as soon as the ability is played. So i am assuming that like with torn hero, it can react to an ability that can commit a foundation, such as amy's assistance, even if there is a choice?

It also triggers at the same time as Dead for One Thousand Years, which i believe has been ruled that when it reacts, the card it reacted to no longer has a text box, and so its effects dont resolve. Does this mean that if i react with soul calibur, and choose to flip the foundation that is causing a commit, that likewise its effects cannot resolve, as it is now a facedown foundation with no abilities?

For torn hero, it says commit this card instead, does this work if my opponent would commit multiple cards in my staging area, via stun:2+ or Akuma4, preventing me from commiting anything but torn hero?

Does this then mean that i cannot react with 2 copies of torn hero, since the first one is committed instead of the ability, so the second has nothing to trigger to?

Finally, how does torn hero (and soul calibur) react to my opponents darkness blade? Since they both react to the ability being played, and its ability can commit cards in my staging area, i can react with both. Does torn hero effectively negate the effect of darkness blade, since i commit torn hero instead of committing a card every time my opponent plays an enhance? Or is that not how it works?

Sorry about the mass of questions.

Yeah... reply looked ugly... lets do this again.

Correct, only because it states "commit 1 card" and not "commit 1 foundation". Amy's tags assets, and thus can be tagged by Soul Calibur.

Correct.

No, because Torn Hero prevents A foundation from being committed, not multiple. You can use it to protect one of the foundations that is to be committed. <See Makai High Noble, similar wording, similar situation>

In response to Stun: 2, or Akuma'a First E:, you could commit 2 Torn Hero to commit 4 cards in your opponents staging area.

The Darkness Blade's effect does not commit at that point in time. It sets up a conditional ability for later in the turn.

When it does commit stuff, it's not a played ability. So Soul Calibur cannot trigger.

Torn Hero, if it's committed will have it's static effect trigger, but cannot use the R.

No worries... they're good questions.

Yay for using proper quote tags second time around. (Remember folks "/QUOTE" works "/quote" doesn't.

Slight alteration - Darkness Blade v. Torn Hero and such.

Anti-commit abilities will be able to respond to Darkness Blade. Soul Calibur* may respond immediately, and Red Lotus may cancel it.

If Torn Hero's response is used v. Darkness Blade, the first card committed by Darkness Blade's effect on the next Enhance will be forced to commit Torn Hero instead of whatever else it was supposed to commit.
