Rebel Epic Combos

By DraconPyrothayan, in X-Wing

So, after my recent crushing victory in a Team Epic game, I've started jonesing for some sweet new Huge-Ship Combos.

I am particularly wondering how to make the Transport broken as hell.

So, what follows is my take on one such potential combo, but I would really like further ideas as well. Cheers!

Public Transportation: Still stressful a long, long time ago, even in a galaxy far, far away.

We start with the Dutyfree Title (increasing the range of the Jam action to 1-3), and pair it with a Frequency Jammer.
Now you can stress out 2 ships, one of them twice and one of them at up to R4!

To get an extra pseudo-jam at stress free, we add Raymus Antilles , who can stress out your opponent at R1-3 if they chose a White maneuver.

For the Damage, we're using Slicer Tools . Considering that we've used a Jam action, these would be best placed on a separate ship, but with enough Ions we can alternate turns of it. Jam lasts for 2 stresses anyway.

You can provide some of those Ions yourself with the Ionization Reactor. 5 energy stored from the early-game (as we don't have any other energy-requiring cards in this build yet), and you can blow the Reactor to Ionize everyone at Range 1.... before your action.

The underlined upgrades are 2, 4, 7, 6 and 4 points, respectively. Put onto one Transport, and it will cost 53.

You get the ability to spend 1 action to stress out 3 ships, the ability to spend 1 action to damage up to 4 of them in a single round, and the ability to Ionize everyone at R1 at once, to make that stress permanent.

This combo flies well with: A different Huge ship with Slicer Tools (I'd vote for the Quantum Storm for this role), and Escorts that can Ionize and/or Stress their victims.

I think this works best with two Transports operating together, Double the stress, and somewhat double the damage. It could be fun. Keep the Dutyfree behind its buddy, and see how much trouble you can cause while the rest of your ships start murdering actionless fighters.

Quantum Storm loves running out of Energy, as that lets you use the Title Ability, allowing you to gain more Energy over time by spending lots of it.

Slicer Tools are a great option for this if you can ensure that opponents will be Stressed. If you're running the "Public Transport" build above as well, this is a great pick-up.

Torryn Farr is also phenomenal on Quantum Storm. By negating tokens, you're essentially removing your opponents' actions entirely, unless they have Boost, Barrel Roll, or upgrade-specific ones. Pair with lots of Opportunists.

You can salt-and-pepper your ship to your liking with the WED-15 Repair Droid , the Backup Shield Generator , and/or the Comms Booster . Note that neither the Shield Generator nor the Comms Booster are actions, so by doubling up on the upgrade, you can double up on their effects.

The underlined upgrades cost 4, 7, 6, 2, 3, and 4 respectively.

I have just noticed that you can theoretically triple-up on the Frequency Jammer. That's potentially stressing 5 enemy ships every turn!

If you're running Slicer Tools on a friendly ship, I can't see a reason NOT to do that. Ouch!

I had just found this combo out. The range 3 jam action is amazing, I had tried running slicer tools on another ship, but that just didn't work.

Back-up shield generator is almost a must on every epic ship, recharging shields is so painful offensively, as you can do nothing that turn.

Man, Dracon, I was messing around in Voidstate yesterday trying to trick out my transport for when we finally get around to playing an Epic game, and I came up with the exact same list!

I don't know what that says for either one of us, as I didn't do too hot at my last tournament - you know, like minds and all - but hey, it seems like a really cool idea.
