Lambda Shuttle vs. Firespray

By bubblepopmei, in X-Wing

I have an Amazon gift card, and I'm trying to decide whether to get the Lambda shuttle or the Firespray. The shuttle has good possibilities for target lock and stress swapping, but the Firespray seems to be a more common choice. What do you think?

Firespray. It comes with Gunner, which is one of the cards the Shuttle needs to function well for most of its builds.

If you have neither, get the firespray first. It stands alone. For the shuttle to shine you need components from the falcon and the firespray.

If you already have both, get another shuttle.

what HE said

"The Firespray stands alone."

Firespray without a doubt.

Firespray!

you can make a very viable shuttle w/o a gunner. OGP+Advanced Sensors+Engine Upgrade can be a beast. Gunner helps, but often times you can spend those points better

That being said, Firespray is a better fighter, just for more points.

The Firespray-31's a fun ship. The Lambda is too, but it draws heavily on other expansions.

=( Poor space cow.

The space cow is pretty fun too. =) But you should probably listen to the more experienced posters here and not me.

I went with La Vaca Blanca because she's prettier (and I got her half off.)

But what are you trying to play them with?

Get both.

The doom shuttle is very popular (and only needs the shuttle xpac) but I definitely think that Firespray is more fun to fly

The Lambda has a very, very steep learning curve associated to it, but is an extremely capable ship. If you've never piloted a large base ship before, I would heavily recommend the Firespray to get your feet wet. Then once you figure out how to fly it you can get an ethereal void bison.

Depends on if you need advance sensors and sensor jammers. Yes yes advance sensors will be included with the e wing. Not sure about the jammers though. I like the doom shuttle personal but if my fleet was limited I would opt for the firespray. Easier to fly and the rear arc is nasty. Just don't let the enemy get you from the side and you'll have someone in your arc nearly every round.

HI-HO THE DAIRY-O THE CHEE- I MEAN FIRESPRAY STANDS ALONE!

Flammenwerfer. It werfs flammen.

I feel like somebody's been playing too much RTCW recently.

Lol thanks all! I ordered the Firespray.

I fear not learning curves, but I felt like the upgrade cards from the Firespray do a lot for other ships, like my incoming Phantom. I am spend thrift and don't wish to collect, so I'm not sure if I'll revisit the shuttle, but while I love the idea of giving target locks or absorbing stress, I'm not sure how likely the cow is to keep up in range with fast TIE ships.

I'm running Baron Fel or Echo with a Howl/Stab/Academy x2 swarm in some combination. I'm not sure how I'll play either shuttle or Firespray.

I often add a Lambda to my lists to eliminate TIE Interceptors early. It can pounce on them and can be quite brutal. With Engine Upgrade and a few other upgrades, it's not a slow, helpless beast but an aggressive Auroch. It's certainly something you should revisit, but once you have more experience. Here's a bit of an article about how to setup the Lambda and how to use it in combat:

I think you made a good choice. When you do get a shuttle try bh with gunner, hlc, fcs, and engine with your mini swarm. The shuttle sits back and doesn't need to keep up with the swarm. And with the hlc you are getting 4 atk dice at every range with no extra enemy agi dice for range bonus. And I still think the doom shuttle is a bargain at 25 points.

Firespray is a great choice, haven't yet bothered to pick up a shuttle.

I like both, but feel that point for point in a 100 point game, the firespray is a better ship. In larger games, the shuttle can shine more as the support ship it is designed to be.

People will often run a firespray with no upgrades, as it does well stock. I have never seen anyone do that with a shuttle, because the stock shuttle sucks.

In an epic game, I feel the shuttle had a lot to offer. I love Jendon with bomber in larger point games.
