I do not see anywhere a 6x3 playmat that I can order from continental US. Everything I find is from Europe. I would also like a playmat to be made out of that thin mouse pad material. Any help would be appreciated.
6x3 Playmat needed
Theres a thread active on here about a Kickstarter for some Vinyl mats. They will do either to 3x3s or one 3x6. It ends tomorrow early am. I just dropped some on it to get myself a 3x3 and a 3x6.
I agree with Wookie Hunter, I've played on vinyl mats and on neoprene mats, frankly vinyl mats can't even compare to the neoprene ones. I asked mygamemats.com but unfortunately he can't do anything bigger than 3x3
There are a lot of good testimonials from folks in that thread that have mats from the first wave. That works well enough for me. The kickstarter is also clearly done by understanding folks, and they talk about the products fairly knowledgably. It works for me, and getting a 3x6 and 3x3 for 80bucks total works for me. Even 55 for a 3x6 is pretty solid. Add to that the fact that the images they took for these are gorgeous.
Try playing games on a neoprene mat and you'll hate the vinyl
I have, but I have not played on these vinyl mats, and again, they have some fairly good reviews. Your mileage may vary, but I'll wait until I get mine in to see. I'm betting it will be worth it, even if a tiny bit subpar, to have an easy to acquire 3x6 mat.
CORSEC engineering do a large (80""x60") fleece game mat for about $ 80 USD.
I got mine the other day and it's nice, i opted for the two 1m x 1m play area markings so i could either run two games at the same time or one Epic game. You can choose from several stunning pictures taken by the Hubbell telescope.
The only problem is that it took me 5 months to get it due to problems at CORSEC, he had a few set backs and got behind on a lot of orders. Not sure where he's at now but the problems were surrounding the power supply and laser cutter, but as these mats are not made on site it should not effect the shipping date (which is 3-4 weeks).
That's a solid option too! It is a little outside of my price range, but it looks pretty darn good.
The hotzmat crushed felt is nice too. It takes a while to get, 8 weeks or so and its from near Vancouver. I have a 3x4 and its perfect.
Edited by Old AdeptI bought this, and I know its awesome cause its the same on my gameshop has. They forgot where they got it from but I found it. http://www.frontlinegaming.org/shop/frontline-gaming-and-tablewar-gaming-mat-space-6x4%E2%80%B2-pre-order/
Its 6x4 but ill make it work
I have a hotzmats already and I cant say im satisfied with it in the least.
I'm having a grand ol' time on the black felt that I got at the fabric store (for $6.99 at 25% off), which was 3x6. I had them cut it in half, which they did (mostly) straight. I spraypainted it and it's absolutely fabulous. The spray paint set me back a few bucks. To get the stars really good, I used one of those white out pressers, but it soaked through to the other side and got white spots on my table. They were a pain in the rear to get out, but it was totally worth it.
Of course, if you WANT to spend $40 on a playing mat, I'm happy that you're keeping the economy rolling.
I spent like... 27, thankyouverymuch.
I found these guys today.
The auction description says they do "custom sizes and prints".
I've messaged them, no response yet.
But the print looks awesome and the price is cheap.
Anyone familiar with the kind of canvas they would be using?
Edit; Here we go...
So 3 of the 24 x 36 ones would make a 3x6 foot area.
Would this canvas be the same as the gale force 9 mats maybe?

The OP requested sites within the US, so that may not work for him.

Big $penda!
I got my 6x4 from Deepcut and, though it's a nice print, they folded the mat for transport... FOLDED it! I've had it for a few months now and it's still got the creases in it. I continue to use the mat due to not wanting to lay out even more money to go elsewhere, but this will always piss me off.

besides, as far as I understand it's pvc print, that you can get elsewhere for less than half, if you bring your own image (their pure space mats look like standard hubble/nasa images so that shouldn't be that hard )

That's the kickstarter mentioned. 3 hours left as of this posting. Like I said in the thread, I really love my mat, but to each their own.
Oh ****, I'm going to have to decide on exactly which 6x3 I want really soon... crap, that's gonna be a pain.

He does have two 3x3 that match ("Fire in the Sky and Fire in the Sky companion") - Really sounds like the better solution to me anyway.
EDIT: ....and out of stock... and pricey ($55 for 3x3?)
Edited by DigitalChicaneryI got one last year ; was nott impressed with this at all...Material is super thin and the pic is ok as long as you are 10' away lol..quote name="JaggedLittleFel" post="1112070" timestamp="1402128595"]I found these guys today.

Talking about custom size playmats... Having played a lot of X-Wing in the last months, me and my buddy, we figured out (me & my buddy) that we could use the material our company uses for wall murals as playmats. Have a look here:
It's repositionable, it's sticky on the other side, so you don't need any pins and it's also extra light. The only problem is that you have to put it on something for transport.
Feel free to make some use of our discount codes for anything on pixers (limited number of use, so don't wait too long to make your decision

Any questions, comments are appreciated.
They're expensive, but I love the companion 3x3 mousepad mats at www.mygamemats.com ! They're great for epic, and for running two separate tables.
I own 2 from mygamemats.com, fire in the sky and fire in the sky companion..... though I don't see the companion anymore. Looks like they have 2 that have matching companions: Christmas Tree and Orion Nebula
I also own a vinyl one, which was a big mistake. Mousepad is the best way to go imo
