Sleeves

By Chav, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

So, i am about to re sleeve my whole collection of Descent, as the sleeves i have brought is too big, and it annoys me that they look this way. I wasn’t aware that FFG made their own sleeves, so now i am about to buy them. As far as i can tell i will need 7 green packs and 10 yellow packs (can anyone maybe confirm this? i have base game, LoR, Shadow of Nerekhall, Trollfenss, Lair of the Wyrm and 4 lieutenant packs and the oath of outcast.

So, at this point it would be great to sleeve the character sheets as well, but i have no clue if you can buy sleeves that big. Do FFG also produce this, or what could i get for them?

Thanks in advance

This is what you want:

The perfect solution (until maybe FFG themselves makes a sleeve for it).

There is a guy in Thailand who makes sleeves specifically fitted for the Hero Sheets.

His shop on Ebay is called: tbg_shop.

If he does not have them for sale at the current moment you can write to him asking about when the sleeves will be for sale again.

I myself have bought sleeves from him a couple of times and they are of a very good quality and cheap.

Here is a link to the shop on Ebay:

Here is a link to an unboxing of Oath of the Outcast where the sleeves are used for the Hero Cards:

tbg didn't answered me.

did he changes or stop bussiness ?

The first time I wrote to him asking when he would have sleeves for sale again it took 16 days before I got an answer.

Last time I bought sleeves from him was 19th of may 2014.

The sleeves arrived the week after.

I don't sleeve games myself, but looking at the product pages ( here ) it seems like you'll need 2 packs of green and 4 packs of yellow for the core box, followed by 1 green, 1 yellow for each small box expansion and 1 green, 2 yellow for each large box expansion.

So that's a total of 6 green and 10 yellow for the box sets, not counting the LT packs or OtO (all of which seem to clock in at 1 green apiece.) Since these numbers are obviously listed for each product alone, it's possible that left-over sleeves could be used on other expansions, thereby reducing the total number of packs you actually need. I haven't run the numbers that closely, like I said i don't personally sleeve things.

What kind of self-respecting online business takes more than 3 hours to reply to their email?!

Don't they know that the internet never sleeps? =P

[/sarcasm]

The guy has no items for sale at all, he out of business ?

Hopes not, because I need plenty of them. and still no answers yet.

Does anyone have the exact number of sleeves (yellow and green) necessary to pack everything i.e. Base Game, 2 Big Box Expansions, 3 Small Box Expansions, 17 Lieutenant Packs and the 6 Heroes and Monster Packs, without having to much overhead?

You should count the cards instead. This is what I did. I can't remember my calculations. I"ll see if I can find them.

But FFG will tell you need 1 green package of sleeves even if there is only 1 card of that size in the box.

Its a little bit of work but I'm pretty sure when I sleeved everything I was able to cut down on each type of sleeve by at least 2 packs, maybe more.

But if you don't have everything yet is is also just to buy what they say because then you will have extra for the next expansion you buy.

I still carry the hope that somebody already did count the cards and made a list ^^

I have a spreadsheet detailing all of this. Give me a couple of hours or so, and when I get home, I will post it and make it available.

It is fairly easy to do. Just get all your rule books and check the first pages of each.

Rule books will told you the exact quantity of each card size provided in each expansion box.

You can count the total numb er of cards in one lieutenant pack and one H&M pack and multiply by the quantity you own.

Okay. I finally got back home, and updated my spreadsheet with the last Co-Op expansion.

I have never sleeved anything, but want to, and that is why I went through this effort. Basically, all of the expansions (and I mean everything) for D2e includes the following card sizes (Width x Height in inches):

5 x 4

Hero sheets

1.625 x 2.5

Class cards

Shop items

Relics

Conditions

Search items

Familiars

Ally skills

Servants

Peril

Reference

2.25 x 3.5

Lieutenants

Monsters

OL deck

OL XP

Travel

Turn order

Quest/rumor rewards

Secret rooms

Rumors

Advanced quests

Allies

Corrupt Allies

City Events

Corrupt Citizens

Plot Cards

2.6875 x 4.6875

Exploration

Activation

Now, I assume, based of what I have read on this forum, that FFG does not have sleeves for the 5x4 and 2.6875x4.6875 cards.

But, can someone tell me what sleeves (colors or sleeve name or whatever) one uses for the 1.625x2.5 and the 2.25x3.25 cards? Once I have that info, I can update the spreadsheet appropriately. I will then post it.

Thanks for the assistance.

Never mind. Sometimes you just need to RTFM !!! Posting soon.

I personally do not use FFG sleeves. I found them too tight and the cards does not stack well together.

Instead, I will suggest you to check Mayday equivalent sleeves. They are cheaper for twice the quantity and you can stack more of them before the pile crumble.

Maybe you should buy a pack of each brand to compare them.

@Guillaumericher ... thanks. I have heard similar things from others. I went out to their web site, and unfortunately, it could really use some ease of use changes. It leaves much to be desired when you are attempting to find the correct sleeves, by using their filter features.

I went ahead and modified the spreadsheet to also show subtotals by expansion in case others aren't as fanatical as I when it comes to collecting everything.

If you need any help, send me a private message with the card sleeves size you are looking for and I'll send you the equivalent.

Went through all this a few months ago :)

Thanks to both of you :-)

I added a new word doc to my dropbox called Descent Second Edition Card Sleeve Info . The purpose of the document is to provide information as to the sleeves required for the cards that come in D2e. In addition, it provides URLs to manufacturers that sell appropriate sleeves.

Please note that I am not endorsing any of these, as I have yet to get them myself. Since I did go through the effort, however, of identifying what was available, I wanted to note it somewhere so that I could find it again when necessary.

The link to my dropbox can be found in this thread:

https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?/topic/112270-descent-2nd-edition-cheat-sheets/

EDIT: I would be remiss if I did not mention that I received great help from several members on this forum in gathering this information. Further, if there are sleeves which you have purchased from other manufacturers that are not included, but do work well, please let me know, and I will add them. Thanks.
