Hi all, I'm looking for some fresh ideas for squads, so I decided to see what some of you come up with. I've been playing on and off for a couple years now, but I've only played rebel a few times so far and I'm beginning to feel burnt out on the empire. Recommendations for either faction are welcome, I can't totally betray the Empire.

Using the ships listed in my signature, what would you go with for standard and epic games? I'll be getting one or two of each wave 4 ship and Rebel Aces, so feel free to include those in your suggestions.

I think it would be easier to list which fleets you CAN'T run with those ships. Dayum.

You can't do a full Tie Swarm, a 5x Gamma + Seismic, a 2-3x Firespray, or a 2-4x Shuttle build.

You can do literally every other Imperial Fleet.

On the Rebel's side, you can't do massed As, Bs, Ys, HWKS, or a 2-3 YT-1300 build.

You do have sufficient of those to run most of the Rebel Swarm options. (try a BXXYY at some point: Blue, 2x Rookie, 2x Gold, 100 on the nose).

You can't do a 2x Transport in Epic.

But seriously, every other fleet imaginable is at your fingertips.

I think DP is hitting the problem on the head.

1. You're looking for "fresh" squadron ideas but we really have no way to tell what your "old and worn out" squadrons are.

2. With your collection the squadron's you can't use (especially if upgrades aren't an issue which many people seem to assume) is a lot shorter than any "new" ones that can be listed. For the Rebs you can't do multiple Y-Wings, HWKs, or Falcons but are just a few builds that use those. Being limited to 2 As and Bs is also a small hindrance although adding Rebel Aces will fix much of that.

When it comes to Epic list and lists using the upcoming ships that's what everyone is already looking at and occasionally listing. Also a difference between one and two ships; Z-95s can appear in large numbers or as one ofs and Phantoms could see more than one at a time although the lists fielding two or more Defenders/E-Wings are likely to be uncommon.

Not sure how I'd fill it out but I'm wondering about a list that includes two Academy Pilots, Echo and Whisper. Of course the two AP could be one other ship but thats a way to get down 4 ships with the two high PS Phantoms.

Yeah there's a lot of ships in that list, 4 of the rebels are my roommate's but share them. I'll give the BXXYY a shot, but we only have 1 Y, so the HWK should full in ok. The funny thing is with the Imps, I mostly just use the firespray, bombers and ties. I'm not crazy about the shuttle or tie advanced, and I usually only use 1-2 interceptors at a time.

Initial joust Wedge boosts the B-Wing, Chewie hopefully draws some aggro away from him.

Well I don't know of any other local players so it's usually me with a Firespray and mini-swarm of ties or bombers, or Jonus & 3 bomber, against his BBBB, BBYY, with an A or X swapped in occasionally (he proxies ships a lot).

I agree with you about the Defendor & E-wing, unless it's an epic game using more than one doesn't seem like a good idea. I have been wondering if 4 Sigma phantoms would see much action, that would be a serious glass cannon squad.

I dare say a big SELLING POINT on the Defender may just be the upgrades it comes with, namely Predator. In a similar vein I suspect the E-Wing's inclusion of Advanced Sensors will prompt some to buy more than one so they have those to run on other ships without needing to by the even more expensive (real money) Shuttles.

Predator is amazing. We've been running 4-5 Black Squadron ties with it, and sometimes hull or shield upgrades, it's easily one of the best EPTs in the game. That card alone is going to sell Defenders.
