Modded some magnets on my miniatures!

By MichielR, in X-Wing

Hello again!

I felt that the plastic pegs were wearing and some of them had already broke a bit, causing the ships to fall of their stands. I decided that a little modding was in order and worked on some magnets.

Link for the magnets used in the description of the video!

Nothing fancy, it's just a quick demo: enjoy!

Feel free to subscribe and like, I'll probably do some more video's soon.

Thanks for that. I've got a few ships that I can't use anymore because my kid broke a peg off inside the model, that'll be an easy enough fix.

You can also use a paper clip. Insert it at as steep of an angle as you can, and then pull straight out. I did this when I dropped my X wing from the table and it broke off inside.

Why do you put the magnets on the plastic peg? Ditch the peg, drill a hole in the model, glue the magnet into place, drill a corresponding hole in the mounting rod, glue a magnet to that and finished.

I've done similarly with some of mine, the difference is I took the peg off the model and drilled slightly into the model and then mounted my magnets straight to the model. I like the look of the model without the peg sticking out the bottom, and I dislike the magnet showing as well. I've even magnetized some of my larger ships, I did a YT 1300, and I did a Firespray as well. I used larger magnets and got a good result, that I'm happy with.

Yes, I'm not that handy haha. I will most def. **** up drilling in my models. But great suggestions! Do you have a vid/pic that shows how its done?

Not to show off or anything (Oh who am I kidding, of course I'm showing off ;) ), but this is some pics of my most magnetized model (Not a Star Wars model so I'll admit that it is a bit off topic)

30 neodymium magnets keep this beast together. I like magnets. :D
