Waiting to get that Tantive?

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

My wife was going to order it for my B-Day (end of the month). We happened to see it in our FLGS while picking up another game (Caverna). She said grab it, she was going to get it anyway. We do like to support the store, but it was 25.00 more than ordering. We did it anyway, but man... these online prices are making it a difficult pill to swallow.

I am a bit of a competitionist... I am going to want at least one of every model. That is the why for picking it up. Just played a game on Monday night where we just used the model in the middle of the field as an obstacle. Made the game pretty interesting actually! I think next time we may let it fire at each of us every other turn, just to make things interesting! It is a pretty model, and I like having it on the shelf. It helps to have a supportive wife who appreciates your hobby. Hell, we even have a Turkish ESB poster framed in our living room. Our 1 y/o grandson holds out his hand and breathes like Vader when he sees it!

Long story short... Wife was going to get it for me anyway, so we grabbed it when we saw it!

Happy B-Day, mine is too as well. My wife is the same. She knows I like grown up toys so gets me some if I ever want them. As for the $25 cheaper on mind, while it's nice to save money, the peace of mind that I am actually getting one as to "when will it come in the mail? Will I be home? Is this a scam?" Also I hate giving out money and waiting for it to come in the mail. I am old school. Money leaves my pocket, I better have something in my hand.

Sadly as the poster above said as well, have to go through the wife first. I just wonder why we go through the wife to get our toys but when it comes to shoes or clothes they don't come to us before they purchase. :P

Ah, the joys of not-being-married. And since I'm away from college, where my FLGS is located, I feel guilt-free about not ordering mine from them. They give a small student discount, but certainly not as much as I would save online. Our Barnes & Noble still doesn't have them in yet, which is kinda weird....Guess they don't sell enough of the game to justify it.
But, I have mine, and it's great.

The guy who said it should have a Y-wing with it was definitely onto something. That woulda been fantastic. Maybe when the Imps get theirs, they'll throw in a TIE Advanced or something. Doubtful, but it's a good way to fix the ship without an Aces pack.

Yeah that Y-Wing idea was just about awesome, and he was right. A lot of guys holding off a bit, like I am, would have gotten a Tantive with the Transport.

My pair of Transports came in today and boy ain't they sweet, with their twin X-Wings...
