Waiting to get that Tantive?

By Joe Boss Red Seven, in X-Wing

So we Rebels have all of the new toys coming out. I have two Transports ordered, and one of each of the Wave Four ships waiting at Miniatures Market. For some reason I am putting off buying the Tantive.

I am going to buy it of course...but not yet.

How many of you are putting it off, and why?

Because it's $100 f#ck!ng dollars at my FLGS!! It's just way too expensive at the moment. I think I'll get more bang for my buck by buying 6 or 7 small base wave 4 ships or another Imperial Aces set and 6 small..

why, I can see it getting sold out rather quickly.. its also mid 50s to low 60s on line now......

Epic doesnt really appeal to me and i Dont feel like paying 60-70 bucks for the han and 3po cards

I think you hit the reason right on the head...

Yeah.

I knew a pair of Transports (with the new X-Wing goodies times two too...Ha, Ha!) would be cool, and fun to own.

As I've said before, I've quit pre-ordering stuff. An utter waste of time. GOD only knows when we'll see TIE Defenders in our mailbox, but the Tantive IV is ready NOW. Don't pre-order stuff - get it when its ready.

And... yeeessss, I understand supporting the brick & mortar. But the thing is around $62 online. And that's all I'm going to say about that.

Well, except that even the MSRP is actually $90, so if your "FLGS" is charging a hundred, time to cut slingload on that price-gouger and leave him to his fate!!

Check Amazon and miniaturemarket. Both have great deals on the Corvette for those who think price is a bit much

Honestly, when I opened my Transport and started reading the scenarios to find that you need THREE bloody transports, I just about had kittens. I have 1 and my friend has 1. A 2nd friend MAY get one but not likely until the fall. They're $60-$65 at our local FLGS so spending close to $200 to play the scenario seems a bit much. .

What about us poor Brits. It costs £79.99 (which is$133.88) I know I keep harping on about Miniatures Market (one day I'll get a discount) they have it at $69. I ordered mine from them and including shipping has only cost me $89 or £53.17 and yet again will be here in the next few days

regarding needing 3 transports for the scenario, being a bit skint and a Yorkshireman to boot, and being the only one of my group to buy a transport its going to have to be 2 plastic bottles (sprayed white) and copious use of the company photocopier until such time I buy more or some other tight fisted person does

I would love it for the model, but I can't justify more than $15 for it since I'll probably only ever play Han, and that's only when I fly a Chewie/Lando Falcon.

Well not to hate on the model or the price. I am wondering why people are putting off buying it for other reasons, if any... :D

seriously what else do you all have to spend your money on..lol I would just be wasting mine on stupid stuff like the house payment!!!

I was going to wait or maybe even not get it at all, but I hooked up an Xbox One with a racing wheel for a wealthy relative and he unexpectedly tipped me almost enough to pay for the Tantive, so I went for it. It pays to have rich friends/relatives who don't know how to operate their expensive toys

Not a 40K or GW customer I take it eh? :P

I guess I have been collecting GW too much. $100 seems so cheap especially for something I don't have to put together and paint.

When I saw the transport for sale, I picked it up and put it down. I don't know, it just didn't feel like it was worth $70 when I could get so many smaller ships for that price. I already had all the small ships he was selling so didn't buy anything.

I'm holding off on getting the Tantive till the Imperial Epic Release. There is no reason to get the Tantive without having a large Epic Empire ship to shoot at it with.

Its like getting half a wave. I really am not a fan of FFG breaking format with releasing only Rebel Epic ships instead of 1 and 1.

Yup. I was in one of my "F"LGS and I saw a starter set so I picked it up. Then I saw the price tag, $50. That's $10 above MSRP. I couldn't help myself, I justed started laughing loudly and walked right out the store shaking my head.

"F"LGS"

Eheheh. I see your subtelty and wholeheartedly agree

As for the Tantive, I had to get mine asap. We don't play epics as much as we would like cause it can be hard to find the time vs 100 pt games. But it is pretty awesome.

I just hope that the imp ships don't cost any more than what the rebels costs.

Read one post someone estimated that if they released a vigil class ship would maybe cost 250. I couldn't /hope ffg doesn't do something like that

"F"LGS...sad but true in case too.

I bet it will be a 15 inch model on three bases and go for around $130.00...

I'm in Australia and I'm ordering from them when they're based in the UK because they are the cheapest. It's $120AUD here in Australia and I couldn't justify that at this time. However for $64AUD shipped, hell yes I can!

A $90 and $60 "miniature"? No thanks, I could put that money to better use.

Yeah. A 40k Stormraven is $80 unpainted and unassembled. $90 for the Tantive IV expansion is a downright bargain.
