I was at my local gaming store and found a bag of 300 "plastic" bingo chips in various different colors for $7.50. I thought I can use these chips to represent various X-Wing tokens.

Blue - shields
Green - focus
Yellow - evade
Red - stressed
Purple - damaged
Orange - ionized

It is not very fancy, but a real cheap way to substitute for the various cardboard tokens. These chips can handle a lot of wear. I can use them at the community center and they will hold up better.

It a possible solution for heavy used places, on tight budgets.

Makes it a bit hard to fit the tokens in the playfield or on the ship's bases.

Actually, they are smaller than the existing cardboard game tokens. The chip is a hair smaller than the focus/evade tokens.

I bought an acrylic fixative on Amazon and sprayed all my dials, tokens, pilot bases, asteroids, mission chits and such to great effect. They have a nice shine, are easy to distinguish from other tokens, slide well and take the abuse. It helped that I sprayed them in my garage and let the heat help the acrylic cure (at least in my mind that is what happened :-).
