I am having a runthrough of the first quest before inviting friends over.

I picked up the Stamina potion.

If I use it, does it reset next turn, or in the next game, or is it disposed of?

I am sure I will have some basic questions in the future. It's an awesome game. Today, after having a molar removed and thus taking a day off work, I laminated all the cards. Well worth doing, me thinks.

I also watched 5 parts of Critical Play's videos on Utube, who gives an excellent run through of the first act of A Fat Goblin. It was very entertaining and very informative.

I just hope I can pursuade my friends to give this game a try. If I ply them with enough beer maybe.....

I'll be honest, the phrase "Please read the rules carefully" sounds rather condescending to me. For a new player, trying to absorb everything at once can be daunting, and I think it's better to ask questions, even simple ones, than to be expected to be experts before being allowed to ask.

Forums that get the arrogant attitude of "don't ask questions until you've spent hours searching for an answer" always end up being the most unfriendly and unhelpful - just forums where veterans pat themselves on the back all the time.

I'm not saying this one is that way, but I think the question could have been answered exactly the same without that "Please read the rules carefully" phrase - just quote the rules, point them to the page number, and leave the condescension out. (And it may not have been your intent, it's just how it comes across when I read it).

I'm not one to never post 'silly' questions so I might say: Perhaps we can put it the following way:

If you feel inclined to use the (well hidden) search function on the website (at the top) you will find loads of interesting stuff and learn plenty about the game even some things you never thought about.

At least that is what I always find out...but it takes some time. So asking is obviously also okay. Problem is that you probably get tons of answers for every angle of gameplay and even some totally unrelated posts (like this one). That being said I think I said enough... (no I'm not drugged).

I guess we're going off on a tangent, but the one thing that happens in some forums that bugs me to no end is the concept of "a question should never ever be asked more than once, ever, and if it is, the second asker should be flogged and sent away to find it themselves."

I see no harm in asking a question that has already been answered before, or that may appear crystal clear in the rulebook to veteran players, especially if the last time it was asked was not that recent.

If my post came across that way, I apologize. His post seemed like he was playing around by grumbling and saying "I'm not grumpy", so I was just playing along with the kids/sleepy thing. Maybe my assumption was wrong, though, and if so I can see where my response would seem more spiteful.

If it reads in a condescending way, I didn't mean it to - my intent was for it to be good-natured banter in that case.

Indeed. That's why I sometimes go overboard with smileys (although it doesn't always work).

Thanks for amusing relies and heart felt welcome to the forum.

My college lecturer once said, "The dumbest question is the one you don't ask." So I like to ask when I don't understand something. A couple of other questions came in to my mind, though of which presently elude me. But, it does seem to be a game of some variable, so further questions may unfortunatley be necessary.
