In all seriousness...

Got into this game about a month ago and have a game coming up against my regular gaming buddy. Have a list prepped and am looking for possible ways to improve upon it...I have only played about 4 games or so but have adored pretty much every ship I have used thus far. Just got the shuttle and 2 new TIE fighters a week or so ago giving me the following (so you peeps know what I have access to):

4 TIE fighters (cards from core set and exp sets)

3 TIE interceptors (1 exp set and 2x from the Imp aces)

1 Lambda shuttle

1 TIE Adv

My list consists of the following:

Jax (Royal TIE, hull + shield upgrade = 66% increase to durability for a 25% increase cost)

Kagi (w/ Rebel prisoner = one ship a round will get stressed and if he doesnt shoot at it all the better his TL is done until this is dead)

Howl runner (hull upgrade = 33% increase in durability for a 16% increase in cost)

Dark Curse (This guy has been a staple...the only ship i have used in EVERY game i have played thus far)

100 pts

The point of the list is to deny him the free use of his focus and target lock thus taking a good portion of his fire control away. Forcing him to stress when using his TLs (I know it only works for the first shot but that isnt the point...these TIEs need to be escorting SOMETHING and I think Vader is counter productive on Kagi as he will be shot at quite a bit.) I have only ever used Howlrunner once before but I see him THE one constant in every Imperial list.

My piloting skillz are not quite up to par yet due to lack of experience but they are getting better. I have quite a bit of list building experience from my time in the 40K world and usually adhere to the "boyz before toyz" mentatlity (as i am a greenskin through and through) so having so few ships down is a bit odd but it was the best way to more or less deny him the use of his rerolling ability.

What say you all? Any improvements you can think of while keeping in mind what I have access to? I plan on running with this list against him regardless but like how it looks on paper...want to know how it can be further improved.

Thanks for your responses.

EDIT: I have 3x TIE Interceptors not 2x

It's not a bad list, but I wouldn't run Howlrunner in a list with just 3 other ships--at least one of whom will be tough for her to keep up with. I'd run either Backstabber or Mauler Mithel instead.

And you're really, really going to want Push the Limit on Carnor Jax.

I see your point with Howl. But having never used PtL I am curious as to why I would want this on Jax so badly? 2x focuses allowing me to fire more accurately and dodge better? My piloting isnt good enough yet to properly utilize the bosst and barrel roll (not that it stops me from trying!)...i tend to run in to asteroids when I move around to much.

This is definately worth considering though!

You can't focus twice*, but even if you don't want to barrel roll or boost you can focus and evade, which means you're more likely to survive when your green dice forget how to find the squiggly arrows. And they will forget.

And of course there's also the fact that you won't get better at boost or barrel roll if you don't practice. ^_^

[*EDIT: Because ships are never allowed to take the same action twice in a single turn.]

Now that I did not know. I boost and barrel when I can and you are correct the more I do it the better I get...dumping Howl and moving to backstabber or mithel (and losing the hull upgrade) should free up the points to give this a shot....hmmm perhaps a modification is in order after all

The Boost and Barrel Roll combination is actually especially good if you're not a great pilot.

Since Jax is PS8, you get to do both moves AFTER you see where everyone else is, and if barrel-rolling would crash you into someone, you get to change the action.

Being able to correct your mistakes is superb; as an extreme example, if you literally land on top of a bomb token, pulling boost+Barrel Roll is sufficient to get you out of the blast radius before it goes off.
