Look, I just want an outlet for random things I see and think 'that would be nifty to use for Star Wars'.

They already did that.
There is a reasonable chance we will see an AT-ST variant with manipulator arms and giant sized light saber fighting rancors before Disney is done.
I mean, I don't think something like an AMP suit from Avatar
Or an APU from the Matrix
would look in the least bit out of place in Star Wars.
Which opens up the possibility of a Jedi Battleframe.

I hope they don't go the mecha route because I fear they will than sometime in the future go the common anime mecha route whee mecha are used for all the roles of a one or two man unit even when applying the weapons, reactor, and defensive technologies that give the mechs its edge to a starfighter would lead to a design that is just as capable, if not superior in some areas, easier to manufacture, simpler to repair or maintain, and probably less complicated to pilot.
Now, this is... not actually a Space Fighter, but eh, close enough:-
