New Starfighter?

Photo from the set of Episode VII....

Hmmm, just what is that?

Looks like an X-Wing with its S-foils closed, except there's one large engine between the wings and the fuselage instead of two smaller ones. The nose looks shorter and pointier, too.

Maybe it's the new E-Wing =P

Doh! I didn't see the other post, and I looked for one too.... dammit.

In AD 2101 war was the beginning.

Captain : What happened

Mechanic : somebody set up us the bomb,

Operator: we get signal

Captain: What !

Operator: main screen turn on!

Captain: it's you

Cats: how are you gentleman. All your base are belong to us. You are on your way to destruction

Captain; what you say

Cats: you have no chance to survive make your time.

Cats: ha ha ha ha ......

It appears to be a new model of the X-wing that borrows elements from the Clone Z-95

Though this new one does have two thruster nozzles on each wing, so it's possible that they are four seperate engines in which the fronts are semicircular instead of circular. That there is only one on each side my be an illusion. *

I have no idea what the front of these engines are. Were they atmospheric craft I would assume they were air-intakes, but...

* EDIT: Further research indicates that this is exactly how the X-wing was depicted in some of McQuarrie's concept art.

i dont think its a zero wing

In the other thread you can see clear similarities to the Ralph McQuarrie concept X-wing.

look like another ship for FFG to make and sell to us maby a cheaper E wing

The Stealth X maybe?

Or it is a fake photo.

This looks shopped. I can tell from some of the pixels and having seen quite a few shops in my time.

Pretty sure this is an unfinished painted flat x-wing prop to fill out the background behind the full size Falcon they are building. Since the angle in the OPs photo makes the nose so short. I do like the Ralph MacQuarrie style engines. The only reason the X-wing ended up with such large engines in the 1st place was the motors to make the wings open made the rear fuselage too big so they scaled up the engines to balance the look. The original design was much sleaker.

I think I agree with you. If you examine the two pictures (the snub nose one and the regular proportioned one) it looks like they are in the same place. A painted, force perspective flat would explain the snub nose look from a different angle. That would also explain why someone in one of these threads thought it looked photoshopped. I also notice that the wood supports under the nose don't really seem substantial enough for a fully 3D model of that size and it doesn't seem to be casting a shadow the way some of the equipment in one of the pics is.

So, yeah. A 2D plywood standee us most likely. Not that it doesn't still tell us a lot about what the ship will look like.
