great article by Hothie. The Firespray is one of my favourite ships. i prefer going with Kath Scarlet with expert handling combined with other small fighters and occasionally the shuttlebus
I'm pretty bummed that the shuttle wasn't mentioned as an amzing teamate.
For Imdar Alpha I ran
Bounty Hunter with Recon Spec(debated Rebel Captive, decided I'd rather avoid hits with the bounty hunter than take them with the rest of my ships.)
Omicron Group with Advanced Sensors and Engine Upgrade. This thing is possibly the most adaptable flyer I've ever seen. So much fun.
and 3, yes 3, academy ties. In 3 rounds I lost 1 shuttle and 2 Ties. with 29 HP, an average agility of pretty high, and 12 attack dice, it ate 4 X-Wings alive, Took out Dual Falcons in a tough but not close game, and only struggled to finish matches in the sense getting a last kill after the opening engagement took some work.

I agree with the article that as powerful as two decked out firesprays can be, they just can't win consistently enough, either from not doing enough damage and/or dying too fast. Adding even one extra ship makes a HUGE difference.
I've gotten quite good with them myself the past few months. Lately I've been running this list to great success (22-6).

I recently flew Boba Fett with 3 tie bombers (Schimitars), it was doing pretty well against an 3 X-wing squad but then bad rolls killed me....

What they do is find someone who loves the ship to guestwrite, like they did with the Lambda. That would explain why we haven't seen the TIE advanced article.

Agreed. The Firespray might be my favorite non-Huge ship. Can't wait to have a huge ship to pair with it.
I really like using the shuttle and a Firespray together. I like the shuttle better as a HLC ship and if I can get a player to chase the firespray while I follow with the shuttle things tend to go well for me. Plus with the shuttle being a cheaper option, lets me add more ships to my squad.

This article wasn't really intended to inpire those who already fly it often. Sorry to disappoint you, but there is a very large group of players that are new to the game. It was more designed with them in mind.

They have had a lot of new stuff posts, tantive, wave 4, rebel aces, etc, in the meantime. Totally understandable.

Loves me some Firesprays. Didn't lose one of them in the entire tourney. Shuttle "self-destructed" a couple times, but inflicted major crits on Wes Janson (twice) while finishing off Biggs (twice) and Ibtisam with coup de grace Vader chokes. I was highly amused.
