actually I am no master player, but I think everybody knows that the tie advanced is not usable except for Vader. I have tried to create some Vader builds, but in most times I decide to play an interceptor instead of Vader.

The A-Wing seems to be to expensive compared with the Tie, so FFG is going to give them a -2 upgrade card to replace the missle slot. Is there any official statement about the tie advance? For instance they could relase a card like: "Weapon upgrade. Tie Advanced only. Missle slot. Cost 3. The fighter gains a cannon upgrade slot." Then you are able to use a 31-cost fighter with two points of shields and a heavy laser cannon. I think the model would be comparable to the B-Wing.

I think so. It would be a waste and a disappointment not to do anything for the TIE Advanced, and I don't think FFG could allow a game piece to sit unwanted for long.

We have a few threads here and there discussing what's the best way to upgrade the TIE Advanced but I think all of them need serious consideration for what their proposals will do for the meta. Take the cannon slot for example, how fun is it going to be to face against TIEx1s with Heavy Laser Cannons? Or, would they be a wasted effort?

I think TIE Advanceds with dual EPTs might be worth considering, or double modification slots like the Royal guard interceptors to reflect their experimental nature. Maybe a systems slot? Certainly FcS would help out their meager 2 attack and Sensor Jammers would help the craft become even more difficult to hit.

I'm still thinking the best vector to help the TIE Advanced is going to be in the TIE Avenger pack. Both craft come from the same family tree, and it would be really clever to see upgrades for the Avenger be completely backwards compatible to help out its predecessor.

That would be stupid. It simply means that the vast majority of people never buy more than one (if any!) Tie Advanced.

OK. Thanks. Anyway it seems that there is no word from the developers. So we have to be patient and hope for an upgrade, which is not overpowered for Vader, but brings the other ones back into the game!

There's a good reason the Empire didn't use the Advanced much - it wasn't worth the points! (Ta-da-dum-tss!!)

Yeah, give the imperial players a nice fat huge ship (so what if they have to fudge the scale? Its a HUGE ship!). Put an advanced in it as an 'escort' ala the rebel transport and supply a few cards: maybe a couple new pilots, upgrades and a unique advanced title that makes it cool and voila! Advanced is 'fixed' people are buying imperial huge ships and likely the sales of the TIE advanced are going up so everybody wins.

Personally, I would love to see some kind of title for the advanced that gave it a command ability. Some way to buff ally ships. I would 'like' to see something like an evade token passer sort of how the rebels get focus token passing abilities, but I don't know if that would be too powerful. As long as they do something though, because if the frequency of these TIE advanced threads shows anything, its that there are lots of people who WANT their TIE advanced to be cool and would likely pay money to get more and better options for it if available (so hopefully FFG pays attention!).

The Y-Wing has always had many uses since wave 1. The meta just didn't embrace it right away. Do not DARE to compare it to the TIE Advanced

I've won with 4 Y-Wings multiple times.

Plus the Y-wings have gotten a slight boost from all the new astromechs coming with the transport and e-wing.

I love Dutch and Hobbie flying together. No complaints here about the y-wing.

The Y-wing is better than the Advanced by a mile. Only because of Dutch and Turrets.(Grey Squadron is at about Advanced level without upgrades.) But that's a lot.

The Advanced needs a pretty large cost reduction, a system slot, or a new action to make it viable. I can see something along the lines of "Auto tracking" One of your hit results can not be avoided by evade dice this round as a 0 point action upgrade being amazing but not broken on the Advanced.

Of course there would be whining. There is always whining. Then people man up and deal with the fact it's good business sense. They put the X-wing in there to make the Transport more tempting so we would see how awesome it is despite looking pretty meh from the outside.

I don't think the Tie Advanced fixes should come with a huge ship. I can see pilots and maybe unique astromechs, becuase you buy 1 huge ship you can now use all the new pieces. You can fly with all the pilots from just purchasing one transport. If you throw in something like the chardaan refit on a huge ship if I want to fly more then 1 advanced I now have to buy multiple huge ships. Something that some will do but I know most will only buy one of each if that. That wont really increase the sales of the advanced and you won't see too many people running more then 1 advanced even if the fix is good due to how expensive the upgrade cards are. Where as if you did a battle of yavin pack or a second imperial aces pack where it was easier/cheaper to obtain multiple cards you could see people running entire flights of advanced, thus increasing the sales of the advanced or atleast the pack with the advanced in it.

To clarify, I agree with the Y-wing love, I'm just saying it is not particularly popular in most circles and remains underrated. That is usually enough to warrant some attention.

I think the E-wing astromechs and Flechette Torpedoes + Munitions Failsafe help Y-wings immensely.

That depends. It sounds like they put 3 Chaardan refits in Rebel Aces. They could put 3-4 Advanced fixes into a single huge ship pack pretty easily. Hell, they could put one in that applies to every Advanced on your team if they wanted.

If they put 3-4 copies of the non-unique upgrades in the huge ship pack that could work.

They did put 3 Flechettes in the Rebel Transport, so the precident is there.

I would like the see an Imperial "Heavy Weights": TIE Advanced & TIE Bomber and a Rebel "Veterans": Y-Wing and Z-95, so that all 4 ships would get a few more options/upgrades.

Once the rebel aces pack is released, the Tie Advanced will be the last ship i consider near-useless (although more love for the ywing and bomber wont be a bad thing)

I think they should do this:

Add a title that gives the boost action for 0-1 pts. And possibly an Advanced only modification that adds the systems slot.

Then, shift the Tie Advanced into a support ship, by giving new pilots good supportive abilities and adding a strong supportive EPT that plays into Vaders Wheelhouse.

This way you are increasing the value of the ship and not copying the awing and simply making it cheaper.
