Personal Messages... What am I doing wrong?

By DB Draft, in X-Wing

I am not very techno-literate but have tried and failed to use the PM service. I click on a members name, go to their profile feed and see the message space. However when I hit the Post button it does nothing. There isn't any "link" info highlighted either when I hover over it.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I tried to send you a message but for some reason it says you can't accept messages. Perhaps look in the settings to see if you set something to no messages.

Sorry but I cannot seem to make this work. I can see no message icon next to a notification icon at the top of the screen. Epic fail. I would really need to have a idea which box to tick or untick, a "how to for dummies". I remember having no problems with the "old forum". I will admit I don't use the notifications well as someone requested to be a friend "months" ago....sorry but I just found out yesterday!

If it still doesn't work then I will practice mental telepathy...

First off, try this link.

http://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?app=members&module=messaging

See if that doesn't get you to the page where you can enable it.

Otherwise you could try editing your profile. If you click on your name up top then go into Edit Profile then Notification Options there might be something in there.

I tried sending you a private message and got the following error:

The member DB Draft can not use the messaging system

This personal message has not been sent

There is a button on the bottom left of the page from this link. It allows you to disable your messenger. Perhaps OP needs to enable his? I disabled mine then left the page. Clicked that link again and had a pop-up asking me to re-enable or go to community home.

That's my plan, if he goes to that link he might get the option to enable it again. The OP said he can't see the message notification button up top, so he can't get to that page without a direct link.

Yes when I opened that lin it said the messenger was disabled, do I want it enabled. So I did!

Cheers to all you guys, virtual drinks all round!

Drinks? Why not Nerf Steaks? :D

I got your message!

Glad that worked for you :)

First ... thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you.

For the life of me, I was not able to figure out how to turn my Private Messaging back on (never sure how it turned off, as I haven't used it since the old forum). This solved my issue as well.

I do, however, have another question. While I can obviously click on the URL link provided and get to the My Conversations area, I was trying to find out how to get there by just clicking ob objects from the Home page. I went through the whole **** site (at least I think I did), without finding a way to get back to My Conversations. Now, I am aged, with a short term memory leaking like a sieve ... so I hope someone will take pity on me and provide me a step by step, click by click procedure that can get me to this page without using the link provided. Please? Pretty please?

Thanks in advance to whomever can help this senile old man ...

Never mind. Senile is an understatement. Now that the messenger has been re-enabled, I see the icons under my login name. Duh. Sigh. LOL.

Another way to get it to work is to sign your message like this (replace X's with your real name):

Love,
